Round 9 in a Party $20 +2 MTT. 2100 entered, 220 get paid. 350 players left. Blinds are $200/$400 Avg stack is about $6000. I previously lost a big hand and have only $2400 left. I am the short stack at the table-- most players have $4000-$12,000

I am in the big blind so after posting I only have $2000 left.

The table folds around to the button who has $4000 -- he raises to $1000. After that raise he has $3000 left.

I have Q-J offsuit. I think he probably has at least an Ace, a King or a pair. But he might have a hand like Q-10, J-10, Js-9s, etc. I know he will not fold. Do I have to go all in here? Or should I wait for a time during the next round of blinds where I am first in the pot?

Push. Button could be raising with anything here. You are putting 2000 in to win 2600 and you are at least 50% against his likely range of hands here.

If you're gonna play the hand then you might as well stop n go rather than push preflop seeing as you know he's gonna call. U might get him to lay down on the flop, you never know....

This may be a steal attempt on behalf of the dealer.. He could have an ace, but he could really be playing with any 2 cards

I would push.. You have <5 times the pot.. even if he has an ace you prolly aren't a huge dog (unless he also has a queen or jack)

Folding and waiting for another shot in the next round would be quite weak IMHO. Your M was gotten very low (a little over 3 if you folded) and I wouldn't be surprised if you had the best hand already. Sure Q-J sucks, but given the situation, the button could be raising with any number of marginal hands.

I'd push. If you just call, you aren't going to force him out with your last 1000 unless he is a player who scares very easily. There will be 2600 in the pot and you pushing post flop would make it 3.6 to 1 odds for him to call, so he should.

It's probably your best chance to double up. And you aren't going to make it to the money unless you do so. You may need to get lucky (he's got you dominated or a higher pair), but your low M dictates a push IMHO.
