It beats my 25% rakeback deal. /images/graemlins/shocked.gif

a 15x requirement gets the same as 25% rakeback so 20x is -EV because you could of just played and gotten your rakeback instead of going for the bonus

Please explain how this can be -EV?

I get a $100 bonus which deducts $100 from my MGR. For that MGR I would have gotten $25 back. So I'm up $75.
What's wrong with my line of thought?

You would've made 25% on whatever your MGR was over the hands it takes to clear the bonus.

In a majority of cases this is > $100.

I'm not the best at math but here I go:

Lets say at a 1/2 game you roughly contribute 8cents per raked pot. So after 100 raked hands you would have contributed 8 dollars.

TImes that by 10 to bring the total to 80 dollars after 1000 raked hands.

Times that number by 2 and it brings you to the total of 2000 raked hands and 160 dollars we contribted to the rake.

And now we get 100 dollars kicked back to us.

With a 25% rake back deal you have 160*.25 = 40. So we would be receiving only 40 dollars back.

SO yes this bonus is better than a 25% rake back deal.

You forgot to subract the $100 bonus from the MGR
(160-100)*.25= $10 in rakeback.

However thats not the point, the point is if you play limits of 3/6 and above you will make more money on rakeback. These people proboly dont have rakeback and multipoker (and neither do I) So $100 for about 3,000 hands isn't much.

Plus the $100 bonus received in full for a total net of $110. The previous calculation was for rakeback alone which only nets $40.

With no rakeback at all, the net for the bonus deal is a flat $100 which is still more than $40.

Yes, rakeback will be better at higher limits, but that is irrelevant if those considering the bonus are not bankrolled for said limits.

Im sorry apparently im a little slow... and now very confused. Multi is the site i normally play at, I play 2/4 full with 25% back. Should I do the bonus or continue to just use the rakeback?

you have to play 3/6 or higher for the bonus to be -EV relative to rakeback

If you already get rakeback at the site, you should always do bonuses on top of that. It really only becomes a question if you are doing bonus-only at a non-rakeback site vs. rakeback-only at another site.

The math:

Bonus alone with no rakeback gets you: 100

Rakeback gives you a percentage, let's say 25%, of your generated rake, let's call that x.

So, rakeback alone you get: .25x

Bonus subtracts from your generated rake, and you only get rakeback on the difference.

So, rakeback + bonus you get: .25(x-100) + 100 = .25x + 75

Cleary, rakeback + bonus will always be more than rakeback alone.

When deciding whether bonus-only at one site is better than rakeback-only at another site, you need to determine which is greater, 100 or .25x.

For bonus-only to be worthwhile: 100 > .25x = 400 > x

Remember, x is your generated rake. So, you need to look at your numbers and see how much rake you normally generate over the number of hands it takes to clear the bonus (this depends on the levels at which you play). If it's less than 400, then the bonus is worthwhile. If it's more than 400, then stick with rakeback.

Correct, I've played 3269 hands at 2/4 and 2,271 of them were raked and I only generated $210 in rake. You would proboly need to be at 5/10 and above for it not to be worthwhile to get the bonus at a site in which you have rakeback.

I just signed up for multipoker after this bonus was released. I assume that I am still eligible for it? I didn't get any pop up for a reload or anything, is there anything that I can do to see it or just try using the code? I wanted to see the terms of the bonus and such.

What time of day do you play? Only $210 in rake for 3300 hands at 2/4? I was averaging over a dollar a hand in rake at 2/4 and about 1.40 at 3/6. (which means your MGR over 3300 hands at $1.00 avg rake is $330 for a 10 man full ring)
