I'm moving to another place later this month and as far as I know, my only options for internet access there are dial-up or satellite and I would like something high-speed.

Will satellite internet work w/ Xbox live & other online games? Are there any other downfalls of satellite internet (other than price)?

Extremely high ping; do not use satellite internet for online games. Your packets have to travel to outer space and back.

Also, I would never subscribe to a company that is so blatantly misleading in their first-ever commercial, wherein they tell you..."no need to spring for that extra line."

Well, thanks SO much for saving me the 17.99/month for the phone line but charging SIX-HUNDRED DOLLARS just as a SETUP FEE for your service. Is this supposed to be some kind of jopke?

Thanks. Guess I'll have to stick w/ dial-up for awhile. /images/graemlins/frown.gif

My GF had satellite internet and absolutely hated it. Any kind of bad weather would make it very unreliable. I wouldn't recommend it if you can avoid it.

This company has the absolute most annoying commercial on TV. The [censored] surfer music kills me. How the [censored] does 50's surf movie music have anything to do with some dumb broad and internet connections? Whoever made that commercial should be taken into the street and shot. They should film the shooting and put surfer music as a background track for the video.

Good news, DSL is actually is now available (thank God).

It lists download speed of 512kb. This should be plenty for gaming right? There's a 768kb option, but it's $80/mo instead of just $40.

I want to say I have 512 right now, but I honestly can't be sure. It should probably be fine unless you're really hardcore.
