I don't feel bad about folding this one. Even if you do have the best hand currently, which I don't think is very likely, there's a good chance you're dead by the river

Why are you playing this hand? Do you have some read on UTG that hes raising crap hands first in? Do we expect UTG to NOT have a hand that beats K6s?

I think the pf call is fine, you're getting great odds with a flexible, decent, and sneaky hand. You're not thinking you're certainly ahead preflop, you're thinking you'll get a return in the end enough times to make it worthwhile.

any reason why you check/raised instead of leading flop?

I think the turn is an easy fold.

Yeah, I'm not keen on a turn fold at all. This is a very likely spot for a free showdown and/or semi-bluff raise.

I think this is a clear fold unless you have a great read that villian will try a play like this. Sure you've got TP, but 1) Flush just came in, 2) Straight draw just came in, 3) Your kicker sucks, 4) You could easily be behind to two pair, and 5) Even if you are ahead you don't have a spade so any river spade makes it even more difficult to call even if you are ahead. All of these makes this an easy fold IMHO.

i make this play very often with hands that are worse than top pair and i am proly considered nitty. 1020 is just super aggro. often enough players fold to 3bets after raising the turn (they were cold bluffing). semibluffing, especially on the turn, is super common.

Yeah okay, I think anyone who hasn't played the party 10/20 (me included) should butt out, since we have no idea how common semi-bluffs are or how aggressive the game is..

I think it's a very close call. It's pretty opponent dependent and I can go either way on this one.

I am not sure K6s is a very good hand against an UTG raise for the reasons delicately illustrated in your post. Although hot/cold it may be good enough, it is a very difficult hand to play out of position against an aggressive preflop raiser, and is in trouble against many preflop raising hands such as AK, KQ, KJ, K10, K9, etc. Unless you have a good raise I am not sure I would want to play this against an UTG raise, if it was a button or SB raise, that is a different story altogether.

If you were to play the hand, this might be one of those situations where against an aggressive player who will bet anyways you might want to just check/call it down or donk the flop, so he will raise and hopefully push out small blind, and then check/call it down.

I just call on the flop.

Eh?? Why's that?

Michael Davis

Because I like donkbetting the scariest turn cards and checkraising the safe ones. The checkraise is tough but it still has value, and it's going to be easy to fold to a threebet, a lot easier than folding to a raise. However, the major issue is how often the turn will be bet.

don't you basically have to check-call?

Bet/fold is the best line I think, but that does involve folding trip kings for one more bet...
