Making my first ever pilgrimage to Vegas next weekend-where should I play/stay? I'm looking for a big no-limit hold 'em game like the $10/25 max $5,000 buy-in at the Borgata. What casinos have roughly comparable games, and of them which has the nicer hotel?
Thanks a lot, I appreciate the help.

Stay at Bellagio.

Call in advance to get their poker rate.

$129 per night Sun-Thurs. Requires 6 hours of play
Not sure about Fri. and Sat. (although I believe it's $199)

Stay at the Imperial Palace. Good rates, and they treat people well. Then go play poker somewhere else - I highly doubt they have 10/25 nl, but the room rates are generally good regardless.

At the limit you're playing, you probably don't need to stay at a place like the Imperial Palace unless you absolutely don't care where you crash - the location is good, but for a few more bucks you have much better hotel options.

Caesars (palace tower, also I think the new Augustus tower might be completed) is an option - good location with an 'old school' vegas feel despite the newer glitz.

Bellagio is very nice and a little on the restrained/sedate side. I've heard Wynn is good, but haven't been myself yet. Mandalay bay is another of my favorites hotelwise but it's kind of far away from the concentration of strip poker rooms likely to have regular games at your limit (i.e. bellagio, mirage, wynn). The Venetian is also nice and the location is pretty good.

Bellagio, Venetian, Mandalay, Ceasars should run you about 150 midweek, double that on the weekends.

I just got back from vegas yesterday and i stayed at the monte carlo. the room was cheap and fine but i only went there to crash inbetween sessions. They have a free tram that goes bellagio which is where you are gunna want to play. If you want to spend more and get a nice room just stay at bellagio and get a poker rate like the other guy said.

I am curious why people would recommend the Bellagio over the Wynn.

I was just in Vegas recently and found the Wynn to be pretty much superior in every way to the Bellagio. Its like Wynn out-Wynned himself. The only think is that the wait times are now probably a bit longer at the Wynn.

The rooms at the Wynn make the Bellagio look like a Red Roof Inn.
