Late play has actually been 50% push/fold and 50% checked down to river(why, I don't know - I wasn't involved in any of the check fests).

HERO??

My gut says fold. Chances are, however, that I'm up against Ax or Kxs. That's what I've been seeing lately. My problem is, though, that Ax and Kxs both probably have kickers above 3. So, I'm thinking this is no more than a coin flip, right?

With 13BB left, calling here would be terrible. Let this one go.

At what point would calling be right? If HERO were less than 10 BB? Less than 6 BB?

What about VILLAIN? If he were VERY short stacked?

Calling here would be a donkey play.

Thinking about calling would be a donkey play.

Easy fold.

Well if he had 100 chips and you had 2200, calling here would be +EV /images/graemlins/cool.gif

No time is right for Hero to call here unless he has a much larger stack and can take a chance on gambling ... it takes a stronger hand to call than to raise, and with 13 BBs left you will find a much better hand to get your chips in on.

OK, next question - how low of a PP would you call with?

99?
88?

JJ+, probably. If I thought the villain was very loose, or a donk or something, I might lower it to TT. But probably not.

Calling here is awful. You have very few to no hands dominated. Villain has 9xbb and is not extremely desperate. At best (normally) you are a marginal favorite or you are extremely far behind. A call here violates the Gap Concept pretty terribly.

Easy fold.

This all depends on the range that villain is pushing. Versus the average opponent I would like TT+ here.

I would call with AK but probably fold AQ.

what is the gap concept anyway?

ps: sorry to hijack the thread

I think 33s are good for an all-in bet. At best your 50/50 do you really want to gamble for ITM?

He wouldn't even be ITM if he wins, only on the bubble

The gap concept is in TPFAP, basically you need a better hand to call a raise with than to raise first-in, but there's a bit more to it than that.
