so i'd figure bring up some past nightmares (or current) of poker...
what some of your streaks....how did you play through it...when did you realize that any hand you entered you knew you were gonna lose no matter what

when did it get so bad you wanted to kill yourself...

After -350 BB (-$4400 spread over 5/10 and 10/20), I felt like this (http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/showflat.php?Cat=&Number=2272960&page=&view=&sb=5& o=&fpart=1&vc=1).

I spent the next month re-re-re-reading HPFAP, TOP, SSHE, and countless hours here on HUSH. I soaked in the golden Gigabet's wisdom. (http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/showthreaded.php?Cat=&Number=1825403&page=&view=&s b=5&o=&vc=1) And what do you know, I started sucking a little less at poker.

Anyways, moral is don't fear downswings, view them as opportunities to learn tiltlessness and motivation to improve your game.

i know everyone's had a bad streak...
it just gets discouraging..you try your hardest and then you just stay the same ....or you get steadily worse and worse..especially when you keep losing to the same guy again and again.

i was trying to move up to 2/4 and what ends up happening i'll lose a couple hundred (which i guess ins't that bad of a downswing at 2/4) and then just play 1/2...but I'm sick and tired squeaking out small wins and just wanna move up and get better. I've built a 1,000 bb bank for 2/4....i guess i'll just go broke in a couple months. anyone who plays 2/4 will be in for a treat.

i lost half my bankroll a good while back for about 6k just at the 100 NL.. i thought it was a losing streal but in reality I was just not playing very great poker.

I'm down 14,000$ in the last week and a half, so that kind of sucks. =[ Planning a massive hand quest to rebuild in the next two weeks... fighting fire with fire I guess.

after running pretty hot the whole summer, -350 or so BB in about 2 weeks, at 5/10 and 10/20...also looking to rebuild in the next 2 weeks while I have some time before school starts

are you guys going to rebuild by playing the same limits...go for slower but surer ways of winning..or just keep plugging away?

and how do you guys retool? I mean...you know there is the usual..analyze hands...post on two plus two...study some of the game...read the books over again, discuss possible hands with friends. is there a point where you're just overanalyzing to the point..where each decision you get so confused and over thinking it? i wonder where you have to draw the line...

anyways thanks for everyone sharing (and commiserating) with me.

Yes I've had to drop down from 20/40 to 15/30, and then again to 10/20. It sucks. You have to analyze things and make sure you're not tilting or trying to force things to happen, but without playing scared or too weak tight. There is just about nothing fun about a huge downstreak, and there is no one who doesn't get one.

Oh, and a short break from the game never hurt.

I got 5 dollars free on Earth poker. Grinded it up to 170. Then lost it all in a day thinking i was good at no limit. That was pretty bad.

Last week i made a lot. this week, i made 34K less than that.

variance is a helluva drug.

I just recently lost with KK 6 times in a row playing SH. Doesn't seem like much? Figuring a consertive 70% winning percentage each time I got dealt KK, it's a 1 in 1,370 shot to lose 6 times in a row.

My worst day I dropped 35k at the 150 300 L game

never so bad that i thought sweet i want to die, never so bad i felt predestened to lose. However, I have dug myself some holes that make normal wins seem meaningless. The last few bad down swings have been, 20K, 17K and 27K, not fun at all.

Last September I won $3K which at the time was my best month ever, then in October I won $100

That was cool.
