If you were an extraterrestrial, wouldn't you disguise your spacecraft as the Goodyear blimp? You could take in a lot of ball games and lots of people would thrill to be abducted.
But maybe they already thought of that.

I think the chances they would be telepathic with us is low, and they definitely wouldn't read human emotions as well as we do, at least at first.
