I think that you are in the big blind here right? I would probably just check here and play it for the set. I dont think that this is a horrible play I would just prefer find a better spot. You still have 1200 left if you dont put any more money in after the flop which leaves you with plenty.

That is a good way to play it, and for good reason.

However, I was confident I had the best hand at the moment, and I wanted the pot. Almost no flop is comfotable (unless it has a 5 in it obvioulsly), so I preferred not to see one. I pushed, someone made a terrible call with 10Q suited and rivered a Q.

Is my thinking here flawed? Does anyone else push?

Actually, his call wasnt so terrible if he puts you on something like what you had...there is 1400 in the pot, and 1150 for him to call and if he puts you on a smallish PP he should know he actually a slight favorite after seeing 5 cards.

Now, why should he lean torwards putting you on such a hand you ask? Well, for one, bc of your massive overbet PF. I agree, raising here only to shy away ,which the big stack will inevitbly make you do on almost any flop when u have 55, is a waste of chips when you're 7-1 against making a set.

So the most +EV to play this hand is to check and see a flop.

If the blinds were 300 this is an easy all in given the same stacks, but 100 is too low still to make this play worth it.

Check. See the flop and hope to flop a set.

I hate moving in for t1255, but the pot is pretty large at this point.

I think pushing is ok, but checking also works. Pushing becomes standard <8x BB.

with a late position limpers I might push, but with the chip leader limping utg this is a poor push
