$3.60 Multi-table, stack getting low, M=3 - time to push?

I'm not posting in the MTT forum because I figure this is probably elementary for them.

Pacific $3 + $0.60 Barn Burner
Blinds T25/50 - last hand before they increase to T50/100

Hero's stack is T425; M=5.67 now, 2.83 after this hand.

(Details may be slightly off - Pacific's shitty hand display isn't working for me.)

Hero picks up A8o.

First 4 fold. Hero raises all-in to T425.

Your opinions, please?

I'll correct a couple of details.

My stack: T475

All stacks, starting at SB: T1869, T877, T2726, T3354, T993, T95, T475 (me), T970, T1320, T3139. I'm nowhere near the money yet (about 170 left of 331; top 40 are paid).

I have A /images/graemlins/diamond.gif 8 /images/graemlins/club.gif

4 fold before me. I push.

So I pushed into a dominating hand. I guess it just happens. I don't think anyone would lay down AJo there to the short stack.

you will also want to show other players stack size, number of players, where you are (the closer to the button you are the longer you have to make a move), and any reads you have on your opponents.

That all said, assuming you were close to the button it was probably a good push.

I've felt the need to push as low as K6 in similair positions.

Thanks for all the feedback. I understand the principle behind pushing before your stack gets so low that you have no fold equity -- at least I think I do. Problem is, "fold equity" is often an anachronism in these games at Pacific. Although their software doesn't show the hands heads-up and all-in, I routinely see people call a push who can't beat middle pair. So basically I never expect to be able to have more than maybe a 30% shot at stealing the blinds.

Still, there's some tiny bit of fold equity, even if it's 30%, and I need to use it while I can. So I made the right call. Thanks, I feel much better now.

What about suited hands or connectors? They seem like longshots to push with, and that A-small or K-small is far preferable heads-up and all-in. Right?

In Harrington, Volume 2, he talks about a situation almost exactly like the one you describe. He says that in the red zone, with many folders to you, you should be willing to go all-in with all but the very worst hands.

In this situation you really want to play on your fold equity (or "first-in vigorish" as he calls it) because pretty soon you won't have any at all.

If you have the book, which I'm guessing you do since you're talking in Ms, look at page 140 for confirmation that your push was correct.
