View Full Version : The Advanced Hold'em Concept of Gotch-ya...

Some people climb the highest mountains to get their thrills, while others jump out of air planes from incredible heights. Thrill seeking Hold'em players visit the Valley of Patience (VoP) where danger lurks around every Rock. Most of these dare devils come from Border Town (BT) where their emotions can run a muck on a regular basics. When they want to live life on the edge they go to the Valley. In the Valley they practice the art of Patience, Power, Position, and Politeness. Don't laugh, the tension of lurking in the VoP takes a tremendous toll on the nervous system of emotional players. It's called playing against your natural nature.

You can see the intense pressure on their faces as they meet the dragons of temptation, when their monster hands are crushed while in the Valley. They came to play a respectable time honored patient game, a valid system for winning, but instead they are dogged by their emotional nature to strike out at the winds of fate, when rags win, when they are in the VoP.

Then as predicted in the holy passage, from the book written by Mr. Snoitome, "the cards have no respect for talent." Snoitome took the quote from, Wee Willy the best out of Town Hold'em player this side of the Mississippi or the known world. But in fairness to these thrill seekers from BT, they try to remain patient while waiting for the two card combinations with an edge. But when this plan fails and they become lost in an emotional out burst in the VoP. It's time to ride the rush back to BT.

Riding the rush in the VoP goes against the natural law of large numbers, and destroys commitment to ones self. Promises where made on the way to the casino, Self was promised a day in the Valley, playing under the influence of the four P's of poker. But rags are winning and game strategy cries out for a change.

Riding the rush on a holy day of patience is tricky. One must first find the on coming rush, this can be expensive at first. The trick is to get the first ugly win, then to jump back into the action with any two cards and win a back to back rag duette. The song of a back to back rag victory will alert the other players of a possible early warning rush. They will do whatever they can to stop this rush. They are despicable and will try to run you down with Big Slick, American Air Lines, Cowboys, and other sissy type hands associated with the VoP. But when the rush is on, they will be crushed.

Now comes the hard part, knowing when to pick up the winning rush chips and leaving the casino. We have all seen amazing rushes before, and then watched with even greater amazement when they give it all back to the Rocks and Gladiators. Riding the rush requires timing, faith in the impossible, hope beyond hope, and the ability to say gotch-ya at the peak of winning ugly and leaving. How is it down, film at eleven.
