the chip leader (big blind) has been very aggressive. so i pick up a decent hand here on the button.

How should I proceed? I felt like playing cautiously but it was probably the worst line.

Since the flop doesn''t help you at all I wouldn't risk losing anymore chips to him. Just wait for a better chance against him.

If you call him and the turn doesn't bring much he probably will bet again and you will even loose more.

Only thing that might work (but which I wouldn't do since you still have a nice stack compared to the others) is raise him on the flop big and see if he really has something. Problem is that to make a pojt you have to go all-in with this since he has so many chips.

I would have folded too and wait for a better chance.

why are you open limping on the button?

raise 3xbb. if he comes over the top it's up to you if you think he's bullying or has a real hand.
