Number of posts....where are they?

I came accross a post by a person earlier, and thought "wow, I didn't know they posted here!". They had N posts total. I clicked their name, and "show all posts". A much-smaller-than-N number of posts showed up (about 50%). There was no time frame (i.e. show all posts newer than 1 week, etc).

So, where are their other posts? Why don't they show up? Is it because they changed their screenname, and only the ones with the current name are showing up?

I'm confused.

if they have posts before the last archiving they may not show up, so you might have to search the archives for their posts...
