View Full Version : "Official" Live at the Bike thread (8/4)

Tonight's L@TB will be the $500 min/no max 5-10 blind NL game, and will include the pink chips for players that win pots. Tonight's prize is $500 and a Bike Legends jacket. Tonight's show will start on time, unless there's some sort of technical problems and be the usual 4 hour show. Reading Shirley's blog on poker-babes.com, I don't know if every show is getting the Poker Channel edited treatment, but maybe tonight's show will be more interactive. Of course it helps if posts in the thread actually talk about the play instead of it being Jive v The World.

For those that want to watch the broadcast, go to www.thebike.com (http://www.thebike.com) and click on Live at the Bike, or put http://216.53.204.10/bike/bike_300.asx into your Windows Media Player.

I'm looking forward to tonight's edition of
"Late at the Bike". And who won the tourney last night?

Kevmath
08-04-2005, 09:01 PM
Patrick won it last night for 50k. Whatever the guy's name in the 9 seat finished 2nd, Z finished 3rd.

08-04-2005, 09:03 PM
How did Mike escape the top 3? He looked poised to get into the money.

Kevmath
08-04-2005, 09:08 PM
I'd say Patrick was just very aggressive, raising a lot and picking up chips while the rest were trying to get at least 10k, Mike finished 4th and his mom finished in 5th.

Not to get Jive-esque, but they can turn the cameras on and point them towards the casino floor if they're not going to start at 9, instead of having people refreshing browsers and restarting their WMP, discouraging people to watch.

Anyone click on the "play of the day" tab to the left? nothing loads for me. am i missing anything cool?

Kevmath
08-04-2005, 09:11 PM
Regarding POTD, they haven't put anything up there.

08-04-2005, 09:12 PM
Thx, I had to bail around 11pm. The hand I thought was one of the most interesting was the one that froze onscreen before the call. That hand seemed to give Patrick momentum going forward.

GAH, what happened? Suddenly the video kicked in with Bart in mid-sentence.

BART READ THIS: We didn't get video until 15 minutes after the hour.

Kevmath
08-04-2005, 09:16 PM
Well the broadcast is finally up, and in progress so something happened that they weren't aware of.

Nice, AA v KK didn't make the air.

Mo's partial tournament record (http://pokerdb.thehendonmob.com/player.php?a=r&n=14127) In the casino employee's event, they spelled his name wrong, but he did barely make the money, finishing 57th.

Kevmath

Speaking of pink chips, what happened to posting everyone's # of pink chips next to their name?

I'd take El Diablo (the pipe guy), or anyone who remotely is more of an action player. Mike from yesterday would be great for this table, but maybe that'll be tomorrow since it's supposed to be 25/50 NL (crossing fingers).

I meant to post this eariler--I noticed they are giving a pink chip tonight when there is no flop. Is this a new format? I thought the idea of the pink chip was to induce more action.

Alright, I can't figure out where the table has been moved to? First I thought back to the tournament room, but I see that tables behind with cash chips? Am I correct, I haven't been there since Legends started so it is killing me to know where you moved it to.

THANKS,

Maybe this will be a question that will actually be answered.
EDIT: And it actually was!
Time to overemphasize another point Bart, we've got it that Mo has great instincts.

Nice slowroll jerkstore.

Or maybe he's just an idiot.

I've noticed that Shirley doesn't miss much.
Bart is reminding me of a Pinata Swinger.

Bleh on that QQ hand.

I think that guy also needs to check and induce a bluff on the one before that.

Kevmath
08-04-2005, 10:54 PM
Bart is making less mistakes than yesterday, which is a good thing, seems there was some behind the scenes stuff messing him up. Shirley's usual weakness is in recognizing straights, which she has admitted in the past.

08-04-2005, 10:58 PM
in fairness, it seems bart actually has a tough time seeing. It seems his vision is blocked or he needs better glasses.

These questions were posted in another thread by someone who can't see anything as simple as the "official" thread:

[ QUOTE ]
1. What can be done to limit the length of your pre-show clip? Sometimes it is repeated numerous times and the broadcast start well into the first hour.
2. What gives with the technical problem of last night? Broadcast froze for quuite some time and I gavee up.
3. How did yesterday's tournament finish up?
4. Best camera shot is one pointed at the dealer. Gets distracting when camera keeps switching from dealer's face to back.

Kevmath

If you're talking about the pink chips, they're giving when you win a pot, whomever has the most gets $500 and a Bike Legends jacket.

Kev, I know you hooked me up with that mp3 yesterday, and I appreciate it... but seriously man. Does it ever get tiring for you to constantly b_itch about Bart? It seems odd that you have such a great interest in L@TB, yet you complain constantly. You could always just not watch.

Kevmath

I'm taking over for Jive tonight in the "complaining" about the show. I usually have nothing but praise for Bart, except for those moments he overuses his phrases. I certainly like the show very much, it's just what I say is my attempt to improve the show.

Bart,

You constantly call these players passive—which they are. How do you differentiate between passive and weak? Do you consider them the same?

Russ McGinley
08-04-2005, 11:58 PM
Laying down middle pair + 2nd nut flush draw to almost no action = embarassingly stupid

If you are going to play QJs, what flop are you hoping to hit? His play, not brilliant in my opinion.

Kevmath
08-04-2005, 11:58 PM
I think that hand right there (folding QJh to a small raise) is your definition of passive.

I think that falls into the "weak" category. Weak and passive are not synonyms IMHO. Am I aalone in this thinking?

Regarding the Poker Channel, are they showing edited versions of every show or just selected shows each week?

detroitplayer
08-05-2005, 12:10 AM
In my mind... passive is not betting good hands when you hit... and weak is getting pushed off of good hands or good draws when you have the odds. So someone can be weak, passive, or both weak and passive.

[/ QUOTE ]

If you think about it, someone who is passive does not take action. They tend to sit back and wait—or check.

Someone who is weak can not sustain (or hold up to the) pressure of a bet. Thus they frequently can be bet off the best hand.

08-05-2005, 12:40 AM
tonight shows a great example of someone playing at a higher level than the rest of the table. Mo looks like a genius against this table. Has anyone reraised or bet into Mo?
