View Full Version : Going to Atlantic City - OOT Win me some Money!

I'm going to Atlantic City for the next few days; OOT recently has been a drain on my life, and it's time you fuckers pay me back.

I will be making one roulette bet of approximately $500.

What should that bet be? Most votes get the bet.

In a drunken stupor a couple hours before I had to get to the airport for my return trip home from Vegas, I was trying to get out enough cash to make the max bet on Red 32 because 32 was my friend's and my number the whole weekend. I of course was too drunk to get the money out and on the table in time for the roll, but what the [censored] do you think came out? Hit it for me and hit it hard. Red 32.

I went to Turning Stone last week and before we went in my friend says "we're putting all of our combined profit on 20." Well he lost 300 and another lost 200, and I came out +48, so I decided to put 13$ on 20, but it lost. I voted 20, but I change my mind and go with 24.

OMFG, many thanks to Shajen. I dunno how I screwed up and skipped 13.

Here are the actual correct numbers, in order by likelihood of hitting: 22,34,17,11,2,7,13,3

For 500 and one spin, I would go 150,100,50,50,50,50,25,25

Worst case, 3 or 13 hits and you get 875.

250/250 on 22/34 is also a pretty safe bet.

I voted Other. Don't be a pussy, play craps instead. Get on a roll, and you'll do better than 35-1.

Isn't it steeply -EV to bet corners? Shouldn't you just put the same amount of money you would've put on the corner and split it up between those 4 seperate ones and you'll make more? Anyways, it's still 24.

I'm not sure, but I think I remember seeing that if you bet corners you get like 8-to-1 payout whereas if you bet each number individually you get like 35-to-1. So not steeply, but you lose (more) EV.

Looking at the numbers people are suggesting, it is clear that have no f'in clue about roulette. Some of the numbers suggested hardly ever hit.

The house advantage on every bet is the same, with the exception of the 5-number bet which is worse.* How much advantage depends on the rules and how many slots there are on the wheel.

* - This is, of course, excluding the numbers El Diablo has listed, which do, in fact, hit more often than the rest of them.**

** - Except that he left off both 4 and 28, which leads me to strongly believe that he doesn't know WTF he's talking about.

First, play on single zero wheel.
Second, dont ask us.
Get a $500 chip, and ask a hottie what to play, as an icebreaker.

you're actually right (well at the roulette tables where i'm from)

the odds are different (35-1 for individual numbers, and less than that relative to the probability for other bets), and it's definitely +EV to bet individual numbers as opposed to 1-12, 13-24, etc.

i don't know if this is everywhere though - but definitely here
