someone playing perfectly can hit a 57 gazillion BB downswing. this is very very unlikely.

the closer to perfect that you play and the longer the downswing, the less likely.

Roy Cooke claims to have never hit a 200BB downswing in 60,000 hours of play. There is a 2+2 poster who claims something similiar for himself and who says it's very doable with a really good earn rate, like 3.5BB/100. I think it all depends on how good a TAG you are and how good the games are that you play in. I think there are a lot of very successful online TAG players here at 2+2 who have had 200 BB downswings. But their earn rates are more like 1.5BB/100.

Yes. Given a long enough period of time, it would happen. Granted, that would be a LONG period of time...but it would.

you can sit down at a table where someone at the table gets a royal flush 1,000,000 times in a row. you play perfect poker and never hit a royal flush so you lose every time.

On Wed through Thurs. morning I had a >100BB downswing is a little over 1500 hands of 5-10 6max.
I play tighter than most of the good players in that game (and am trying to loosen up).

From Thursday aft through this a.m. I am up >180BB in a bit over 2k hands.
Variance is a short term bitch.
