I am used to rejecting offers that sound too good.

That 1000% bonus sounds a little too good to just reject it, so I thought twice about it.

You need 5 FPPs to earn $1. Let's have a look at the worst case scenario for them:

10-player table, minimum rake generated for each of the following fractions of an FPP:
0.25 FPP ~ $0.5 rake: They have to pay 10 * (0.25 FPP) * ($1/5FPP) = $0.50, hence they break even
0.50 FPP ~ $1.0 rake: They have to pay 10 * (0.50 FPP) * ($1/5FPP) = $1.00, hence they break even
0.75 FPP ~ $2.0 rake: They have to pay 10 * (0.75 FPP) * ($1/5FPP) = $1.50, hence they earn $0.50
1.00 FPP ~ $3.0 rake: They have to pay 10 * (1.00 FPP) * ($1/5FPP) = $2, hence they earn $1.00

Now considering that pots will be raked higher than the minimum needed for an FPP fraction on average and that they will have interest on the deposits, this offer sounds legitimate to me.

Am I missing some point? I wouldn't like to put $500 into some pyramid scheme.

Thanks for your input.

the gamesgrid tables are 9-max, so they're guaranteed to make money on the bonus.

Game selection is poor (not from a toughness standpoint, there just are not many tables going). The bonus clears, IIRC, at about $5/table hour at 3/6 and up limit tables, but it seems like the rock garden is loosening up some (maybe) so that may be increasing. (I occasionally still sit there when there is a game at the limits I like open, and when I look in the lobby average pots are up to 5-7BB rather than the 2-3 they were a couple of months ago).

I don't know if they make money or not with their bonuses and VFP program in place, but they are trying to build a clientele, and it is a tough market to penetrate. I seriously doubt I will clear my bonus, but I have had no problem seeing it show up in my account and no problem cashing out.

(When you could make $12/hour from the VFP program playing the 5/10 DC games, and they had 3+ 5/10 DC games going a night, and were picking up ~$5/hour from bonus clearing, that was way worth it.)

I tried www.gamesgrid.com (http://www.gamesgrid.com) but the site doesn't seem to exist.

So, either I have the wrong URL (which I don't think I have because it appears on other sites) or the bonus really WAS too good to be true.

Not for me.
I tried it in both Firefox and IE.

Can't even ping it.

Weird.

HOw many tables can you play at once? Right now I'm kind of in between 50/1 and 1/2, though mostly 1/2. Playing a couple hours a night I usually clear $100 a week easy from Absolute. I'd hate to commit to a site with less action than them. I'm thinking of using the UB Card Player 40% code next.

Good: You can play as many tables as you want. There is no max.

Bad: There is almost never a single 0.5/1 table going. At best I have seen 2 tables of 1/2 going. Usually it is none or one tables of 1/2.

You would be committing to a site with less action than Absolute. The bonus clearing rate is horrid for the limits you mention. You would definitely not be clearing $100 a week in bonus playing at GG a couple of hours a night at the limits you mention.

You need to be playing at least 2/4 and sign up for their VFP program to make it worth playing there if you are considering playing there for the bonus.

This is a very good bonus, but as stated (at least as of right now you do need to be playing at least 2/4 to really clear the bonus ata decent clip. I keep money there and play when I find a game that I like. This is much less of a risk than some other sites that have poor game selection. Gaamesgrid has been offering backgammon money play for years. They just recently (awhile back now)started the poker thing. If you really want to give some money away your money is good for backgammon! I'm kidding, these people are crazy. Personally, I really like the gamesgrid software and they credit your bonus points to cash every night. If you have money that is not needing to be used or moved for a while, I think it is a good idea to toss $500 in.
