But I live kinda far away, Springfield, IL. It's an 8 hour drive. If I fly, is there an easy way to get to the casino and a place to stay?

I'm from the milwaukee area and went there over 4th of july. It's a nice room (definetely way better than anything around here). I got a hat for making a straight flush to boot!

If you fly there, it is about a half hour from the airport. I hear there are hotels about 5 minutes away, but i dont know the area very well.

How do you get from airport to casino? Taxi?

I drove from Urbana. It's substantially easier than driving to Vegas /images/graemlins/tongue.gif

there is a hotel within 3 min of Canterbury.....not sure how you'd get there from the airport

yah, you're probably stuck with taxi - it's a bit of a ride - I'd guess 30 bucks or so (it's 30 from Canterbury to uptown - almost the same distance) -

hotels are right next door to Canterbury - once there, a 10 min. walk around to the front will get you in.

The airport is about 20-25 minutes from the casino. Perhaps one of the nearby hotels (there are two within a mile of Canterbury) has a shuttle that runs back and forth? Your best bet would be the Canterbury Inn (not part of the casino itself, it's down the road).

Also, I know you're a very high-stakes player. Does this mean that you don't have much live experience?

I'm not very high-stakes anymore but, yes, I have very little live experience. I've played in some home games and some private underground NL games, never in a casino.

I live in Peoria. If I ever go I will holla at you.

your highest Canterbury game will be 30/60 - no NL cause the state legislature won't allow it -

I'll be there August 14th and 15th. It'll be my first time at Canterbury. Really looking forward to it. It's gotta be better than Potawatomi in Milwaukee.

If you want to play NL, go to St. Croix Casino in Turtle Lake Wisconsin. You can also do some fishing in the area as well. Plus your gf could do some skinny dipping.

You and PokerBob can play some HU.

Nah, I'm a limit player. I only play NL live because it's the only game around.

The airport is Flying Cloud Airport with airport code FCM, right?

I live less than mile away from Canterbury and it's a $40 cab ride w/ tip from the airport. That's quite a haul from Illinois. Aren't there poker rooms in Chicago? Anywho, there are two hotels about a half a mile from Canterbury ( a long walk around the track to get you there); the Americinn Hotel (ask for the Canterbury rate) which has a waterslide (my personal favorite) or the Canterbury Inn which has a restaurant inside( 70's rooms, decent pool) . Both have shuttles to Canterbury on weekends I believe. A Mcdonalds and Culver's are next to the hotels. About 2 miles away there is a Super 8 and quite a few nasty hotels where prom kids get pregenant. Hope this helps... and no I'm not w/ the visitor's bureau. /images/graemlins/wink.gif

Good lord no, don't fly into Flying Cloud. MSP, Minneapolis-St-Paul International is what people are refering to.

I doubt you could even find a flight into Flying Cloud.

Don't forget the pawn shop near the entrance--always a business that lowers property values...

I figured you were kidding. I think I'd sooner stab a fork into my head then fly into an airport called Flying Cloud Airport.

The main one is MSP...in Bloomington MN, flying cloud is prop planes only...maybe thats your thing....

Pretty sure there is a shuttle from the MSP airport to Mystic Lake Casino, which is 5 mins away from Canterbury...
You might have to stay at their hotel though, but play some high stakes blackjack and you can get that easily comped.

Call these places and find one that will shuttle you from the airport for free.

Do they card you there if you look young, or are they pretty passive?
