Godfather II,Taxi Driver, The Deer Hunter, Raging Bull, The Untouchables, Goodfellas, Cape Fear, Casino

TO
Analyse this, analyse that, meet the parents, meet the fockers, showtime, the score, 15 minutes, men of honor.

I think he's going through the motions

Will we ever see another great DeNiro film again?

Maybe he got tired of doing variations on the same characer?

It seems obvious he wants to do comedy now.

I liked The Score.

Meet the Parents is good too.

I'm not suggesting he does more gangster films just something a little more challenging. I don't think he's extending himself at all. Some of the parts he's taking he could play standing on his head.

compared to the others, it was crap. I saw it in the theaters, people were laughing at his dialog in places that weren't funny. Not a good sign.

Analyze this was OK. Analyze That was less than OK. The Score was boring but I thought he was fine in it. MTP is hilarious. Showtime was stupid. I didn't really understand 15 Minutes but it was nothing special.

Here is a good example of DeNiro doing comedy:

He's halfheartedly trying. "City by the Sea" was supposed to be a "serious" role, but the results were unimpressive. Now he gets paid off doing Stiller comedies and voiceovers for CGI animated films. But its nothing another hookup with Scorsese or DePalma wouldn't fix.

I though Analyze This and That were possibly the two worst movies ever made. They're closely followed by Showtime.

The Score was o.k. but had potential to be much better. Same with Ronin.

Meet the Parents and the fockers were both funny.

City by the Sea was awful.

15 Minutes was also o.k.

His performances are generally very good, but he needs to have someone else pick his scripts.

Godfather, Goodfellas, Casino... I mean it isn't like those caliber of movies come along very often. So he set the bar pretty high for himself, for the rest of his career.

And by far Godsend was the worst DeNiro movie ever.

And for my money Analyze this is much much much better than Meet the Parents.

Ben Stiller = hack.

He was great in Copland, though his role was somewhat small.

'Hide and Seek' was so bad I wept for him.

I could never sit through Heat. Bored the hell outta me.

I think nobody's making good movies like his old ones anymore, that's a problem. It also seems Martin Scorcese would rather work w/ Leo DiCaprio than anyone else these days, God knows why.

Heat was fantastic, and his acting was extraordinarily good in it.

Ronin was a mediocre movie, but DeNiro's ability was still good in it. The man seems almost incapable of making a less than interesting acting choice. I thought Meet the Parents was very disappointing, but he was serviceable in that movie, too.

Midnight Run was a very good comedy. His first one, I think, and his last for a very long time, as I recall. People were amazed he did so well in comedy. That was back when he was super-pigeonholed for intense wacko parts.

I agree.

I hated Heat. The expectation with Pacino and DeNiro together was probably never going to live up. I wanted to throw up at the end when they shook hands, cheeseball.

He's fat, comfortable, and rich. Not a conducive state for artistic expression.

Heat is a good movie.

Anytime I can watch a movie with Val Kilmer in it and not puke, it's a good movie. Pacino was too over the top, though.

Ronin was also a good movie, but it slowed down too much with the ice skating section.

I think The King of Comedy can be added to the list of greats. Also, Analyse This was a pretty good movie.
