View Full Version : What does this say about my game?

OK...this is only ~200 50's since I started trying my hand playing them full time`last week so take this with a grain of salt if you wish. After my first 1000 towards the end of the month I will post a more detailed report of my first thousand at the 50's.

My place distribution so far is
1st - 14%
2nd - 14.5%
3rd - 10%
4th - 15%

ROI - 20%
ITM - 38%

I was particularly bad HU and shorthanded until about 4 days ago when I had a HU strategy blitzkrieg on everything I could find to read. Since then I have been on a tear...this is probably just short term variance and means absolutely nothing.

Anyways, If my stats continue to resemble this (lots of 4ths followed by 1sts and 2nds) what exactly does this mean about my style of play, and is it good, or am I taking too many risks at the bubble and beyond?

Thanks

Not a whole lot. Honestly, you're playing the $50s for god's sake. Stop worrying about your ROI and finish distribution after 200 games, it will only hurt your potential for improvement.

200 SNGs is statistically meaningless.

lol...thanks for the great info guys. I know this is a small sample (I stated that in my first post) and doesn't mean too much. That is why I asked hypothetically if my play continued to hold to these trends what this might mean; mainly the place distribution.

Like I said before, I will have 1000 under my belt in a few weeks and will make a more detailedpost then. If I should abandon this post and wait til then to ask opinions/advice, tell me and I will.

I honestly don't know what you mean by this. I am trying to keep on top of my trends as they happen since I am still feeling out a lot of situations in a SnG structure as opposed to "normal" poker until I get more games and knowledge under my belt. I was simply hoping for some indications of what this might mean/tell me if these trends hold up. I really didn't want everyone jumping down my throat since I would like to become a more active member of this forum in the coming weeks/months.

damn, now i have to go and see if i warned you yet. if i warned you not to intentionally avoid the censors already, and you did it anyway, i'm going to have to ban you for a week. if not, consider yourself warned.

ok, I'll consider myself warned. I don't really want to get into it with you - I think you're a great moderator, but what is the difference between what I posted and the language you used?

What I meant was that looking at stats is not the best place to start looking for leaks (atleast not ROI and ITM stats). The other day I was looking over some games I played a while ago at the 22s, and I was making some horrendous plays and still winning like a machine. The problem with this approach is that, you don't know what to do when you start hitting a bad run of cards. You will start questioning your play, and start overadjusting and introduce more leaks into your game. It's hard to keep telling yourself you are making good pushes etc when every coinflip goes the other way. I think keeping ontop of your game and having the confidence in your own decisions can go a long way from avoiding this trap.

Man, I didn't know 2+2 had a censored function. When I felt like cussing in OOT or something, I would just type "[censored]". /images/graemlins/laugh.gif

uh, i said "jesus christ," a series of words that are in now way in any resemblence of anything that the censor on this forum blocks, you responded with something that was intentionally designed to avoid the censor, while resembling a word that is usually blocked by same.

that's pretty funny.

ok, fine - like I said - I really don't want to get into it over this. Is there a list or something or just go by trial and error?

citanul

well anything that when you just type it out, say, oh, [censored], and it gets blocked by the censor, is fine. any time you start inserting characters like # $ ! etc into a word like [censored] in order to make it so that it doesn't show up like this -> [censored], then yo'uve done something wrong, if it is a word that would show up like -> [censored], before your editting.

not so difficult. if you find yourself changing letters for stuff, chances are it's against the rules.

My wrist would be sore if I was at a 20% ROI and thought I was running bad.
