I believe Charlie Murphy, but he could end up being wrong.

Right?

Eh... maybe that's just wishful thinking.

Part of it is staged (the bits on the street, I mean), but I like Mencia. His show is pretty good. It's big into the "politically incorrect" thing.

i think charlie speaks the truth, sadly. didn't dave's longtime writing partner walk away from the show and/or comedy central recently?

His stand up "Killin them softly" is the funniest stand up I think I have ever seen.

From the time article I read, a lot of it was him being obsessed with topping his previous work. Hard to improve on near-perfection. That, plus I don't think he could deal with suddenly becoming the standard for black comedians the way Chris Rock was in the nineties.

Lot of pressure. Sucks that there will be no more Chapelle.

Not sure, but Chappelle apparently didn't tell Neal Brennen that he was going to South Africa, and Neal was very publicly pissed about it, so that would be unsurprising.

Murphy said that the show burned out? I dont agree with that. I wish there would be another season.

This sucks. At least there's the DVD's.

Mind of Mencia isn't even 1% as naturally funny as Chapelle. His show blows.

I haven't really paid attention to this other than to watch the show once or twice. Did Chapelle have a breakdown or what?

So is David Chapelle's career. He officially defined himself to be a horrible investment.

the unedited one that used to be on showtime a lot is hilarious. they reran it on comedy central but it was mostly edited fluff.

I agree, his original stand-up routine was pretty funny, but his show is just a poor replacement for Chappelle's Show.

So Charlie Murphy is really Eddie's brother? I thought he just played Eddie's brother on the show.

Oh well. Chapelle's Show sucked anyways. The same old lame crap where black comedians make fun of white folks. That crap was played out when Richard Pryor did it.

Maybe they can fill the time slot with more South Park. That'd be a win-win.

I went down to play trivia with my dad and a couple of his work friends tonight, and one of them really believed this has got to be some kind of prank.

It really wouldn't surprise me. After all, it's Charlie Murphy making the quote, not the head of the TV productions or Comedy Central.
