View Full Version : Can someone please decipher the acronyms?

A lot of acronyms are used here and I think it would be useful to get them translated for newbies like me.

Some are obvious - like UTG, EP, BB, etc.

Some are less obvious, but can be easily figured out - like +EV

Some are the titles of books - I don't know all of these

I know

TOP - Theory of Poker
SSHE - Small Stakes Hold Em
HFAP - Hold Em for Advanced Players

I do not know what HOH is though

One other I do not know is CO.

Your help is greatly appreciated!!

Try the "Abbreviations" link on the left.

HOH is Harrington on Hold Em
CO is Cut-off, the position to the right of the button.

UTG - Under the Gun, it's the position right after Big blind. First to act.

EP - Early position

LP - Late position

MP - Middle position

BB - Big Blind

+EV or +E(x) - Positive expected value

I see the term FYP being used a lot? What does it mean?

FYP = Fixed Your Post (you'll see it more if you hang around OOT)
OOT = Other Other Topics
MTT = Multi-Table Tournaments
