Two sodium atoms are walking along the street when one stops and says, "Oh my God, I think I've lost an electron!""Are you sure?" asks the other sodium atom. "Yes," replies the first sodium atom, "I'm positive."

In a similar vein, I always thought it was kind of strange to have CERN set up in Geneva, what with Switzerland being so neutral.

OK. I figured it out. My joke is funny. Your pics are OOT non-sequitors. Not funny. not obnoxious. just there, for no particular reason in this thread.

The number 1 walks in to meet his therapist, number 5.

"5, I don't even know what I am anymore. I don't even know if I'm 1, 2, or even one tenth of what I am".

The therapist replies "Well, my friend, it is fairly easy to see what the problem is. You're two tenths."

Is it really comign to this?

Ok, a Sodium atom (like many other elements) is neutrally charged. It has the same number of protons (postively charged particles) as it does electrons (negatively charged particles). If it lost an electron, then it would become a positively charged ion.

No, that's not it. He's saying your joke isn't funny, and posting pics to represent silence, i.e. no one laughing.

The tumbleweeds are a classic image used a lot in old Warner Bros. cartoons.

we have a winner /images/graemlins/wink.gif

although the subsequent jakethebake like confusion is much more funny than my original reply...

You really think Boris didn't know what asofel was getting at? I think that's unlikely.
