fold preflop

pot the flop

good turn check, likely callers of your flop bet have a 9

good call on the river. i don't think you're ahead that often, but probably enough to make this call.

I would have raised to 1.00 PF. If 3xBB is your standard PFR, then this is probably fine, but mine is 4x + 1 for each limper.

Given Hero's position on the flop, and the fact that both blinds called the PFR, does Hero's flop bet have any FE at all? This is a bluff after all, right? The goal here is to take the pot now? Moreover, given that our goal is to take the pot, I would have made a full bet, not a half bet.

How LP do you want to be to start open-raising with this hand?

IMO, this PFR if fine in Hero's position, 2 off the button.

3/4 pot on the flop, if called someone probably has a nine.

As played, check behind on turn is good. River call is marginal. If you would have bet more on the flop and gotten called, you should be done with the hand...as played...meh, probably neutral EV to call or fold there.

meh, unsuited, i muck 100% regardless. it's not a hand that is going to have a big pay-off and i'd rather steal with 87s than ATo.

Why is the prospect of winning a smallish pot with a high-card hand so unwelcome?

Becasue you're just as likely to lose a medium-sized pot as win a small one?

ATo is a trap hand. if you raise with it and are called, you're probably already behind. if you hit your T, there are several overcards to beat you, and if you hit your A, you have a crap kicker. high card hands are played primarily for pair value...this is a crappy pair hand, and the one straight that it can make doesn't add enough to it to make it worth playing IMO.

suited gives a bump because then you can still play it strongly the ~8% of the time that you flop the flush draw.
