is there a simplified calculation in holdem to determine the odds of hitting your hand based on the number of outs you have in the deck? I'd imagine there is a separate calculation for the turn and river.

your odds are

(cards remaining - outs) to (outs)

if you have 5 outs on the turn, then your odds are:

(46-5) to 5, or 41 to 5.

X to 1 odds = You hit your hand 1 out of (X + 1) times
X to 1 odds = 1 / (X + 1) = % chace to hit your hand

(Example: 3 to 1 odds = 1 / 4 = 25% chance to hit your hand)
