From same game as the KK hand.

I limp UTG with 88 and get raised by UTG2, 2 cold callers and the sb play I call. 5 in for 10 sb.

flop is 333 checked to me I bet. UTG2 calls button calls and SB calls.

turn is a 2 checked to me I bet. UTG2 folds button and SB call.

river is another 2 I check and it gets checked through.

Any thoughts?

Why did you check the river? I would have bet it.

Perhaps this is a "value bet dammit" situation.

You would have known if someone had the other 3 by now and it's also unlikely that someone called the raise with 22. Since the preflop raiser has folded, the risk of overpairs is low and you will be called by smaller pocket pairs here.

I think you have enough to bet the river here.

mistake not to bet the river. there is a low probability your opponents have bigger pocket pairs or you would have heard from them by now. they're hopeing their ace or king kickers are good. Unlikely there is a 2 out there.

Scott,

My hand is still good even if someone does have a 2....

Looks like you missed an easy value bet on the river.

One of my opponents would have to be peeing in his pants, and be a chronic slowplayer to keep me from betting the river in that spot.

An overpair would likely have raised you on the turn. Bet.

What was I thinking?! Sorry.

Anyway. Your hand is a winner so bet it.

Unless you have a very good tell on someone, Bet the river. If you were behind you would know it by now. You will get calls from a lot of different hands. If they all fold, they will wonder what you had and maybe give you action later.

These are the important river situations where the right play is the difference between winning 1 BB/hr and breaking even
