I think this is a bad rule you are making. There should be some amendment possible after an hour or so of play. Tosh and I doubled the stakes about an hour and a half into it. Did anyone else double the stakes? We were both dead tired and thought it was the right thing to do for us as well as for fairness.

Since it is clear what side of the issue I'm on, I won't go further with my opinion. I'm requesting the commissioner and other players revisit this issue and please come up with a plan as to what to do after an hour or more of even play.

Out of curiosity, what are the logistics of doubling the stakes? You can't just up the table limit, can you?

As for the idea of making it standard, I'm not a fan of changing the rules midstream.

Re: Doubling stakes

My first HULA post said to double stakes. Once I realized that I couldn't find a site to run HULA like The Poker Club did last time I decided that doubling stakes was a bad idea and posted that. A lot of people are playing matches on Stars, where the HU tables tend to fill up very fast. Doubling stakes (leaving and rebuying with half the money) could often result in someone losing their seat. I told people to be willing to devote up to 2 hours for these matches and that seemed to be okay.

As far as I know, most people did not double the stakes during their matches and they got through them fine. Occasionally matches will take a long time because the goal still to find the best, reasonable test of skill.

COMMISH RULING:

rmarotti and stripsqueeze will be allowed to play their match after the deadline because it was the first week and I want to give them the benefit of the doubt. From this point forward, any matches not in action before midnight of the Wednesday beginning the new week will go to the visiting team because it is the home team's responsibility to make matches and set up times.

Exceptions to this rule will occur when I feel that a match has not been played deliberately by either team either for strategy reasons or in an attempt to be a pain in the ass. In that case I will decide who is at fault and award the match to the other team. In cases involving my own team the Assistant Commissioner, sthief09, will make that distinction.

So I have to start all over again. It took Rube almost an hour and I was all-in many times but he finally wore me out.
