Usually I will bet pot when I have top pair or overpair and there is flush draw on board... in this case I wanted a call for some reason... good or bad play?

Seeing that you have a spade and there are two on the board, I come up with a 1/25 chance he is holding two spades (is that right?) so I try to remember this when I am heads-up in this situation. I suppose you could bet less and try to get a call considering but if he doesn't have anything, he doesn't have anything. If your normal bet is pot-sized it may be just as well to do that and commit him to the pot if he wants to call. I think either option is fine.
