I'm always stuck in this position. Obviously I want to steal. But do I want to put in a raise and potentially commit myself to the pot? Or, do I want to push?

I say raise and fold to a push. Most of the time they will muck. If they call your hand value alone could win.

Of course if they are crazy or you have been caught stealing with rags you may just want to muck since the big stack could push with a broad range and force you to lay down your hand.

i raise to t300 there most of the time (read dependent). if he comes over the top, you can lay down the hand and still not be the shortstack.

sounds good...i think i sometimes get into pushbot mode and lose track of how many chips i've accumulated. any other thoughts?

Look at your stack before you make a decision.

i think push or muck @ the $11s is correct.

I really like the push here. You are going up against the second biggest stack. What is going through his mind is.... that if he calls and loses he will be really short stacked with around 4BB So you have a lot of FE. Also if he calls and you win you be close to the chip lead. If you juse bet 3BB it makes the later streets a lot harder to play for example if he hits a small piece of the flop you are not going to push him off the hand or know where you stand.

PS I am the thread killer, whenever I respond to a thread noebody responds after and it just dies. I think it may be the smell of rotten lunchmeat. /images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Mucking is stupid....calling is clearly better than mucking getting 3-1 odds with a medium ace headsup. However I'd raise to 275-300, they fold a lot. I think pushing is going a bit overboard too, your opponent's just arent aggressive enough at that level for you to be pained having to fold to a reraise.

You can get away with small bets and raises against these low limit guys. They fold a ton, and even when they don't, you can avoid big trouble because the pot is small and thus easier to play. Say you raise to 250 and he calls. You can bet 300 on the flop if it looks like a good bluffing flop (assuming you miss of course), then if you are raised the BB almost surely isn't bluffing, whereas you are still in decent shape. Meanwhile this scenario I just gave will not be the norm.

Seriously. It's not like you get restolen from *every time*. Just make a standard raise and fold to a push.
