View Full Version : Small pairs, many players

Hello folks,

I was reliably informed that small pairs go up in value with many players, and high pairs go down.

I think I can grasp the idea that high pairs go down in value; I'm assuming it's because the more players, the more high cards are being played. But I can't quite see how small pairs would go up in value, and I feel kind of silly about it! Can anyone explain it to me?

Thanks very much,

Stevie

Very easy answer, my friend--

When many people are in the pot, and your holding a small pocket pair like a pair of 4's, you want to limp into the pot. And 12% of the time when you flop a set is where the money is at. If the board came A J 4, and somebody bet, with so many draws, and top pair hands, you wouldn't suspect you'd be up against a set of 4's.

Get in for cheap with small pocket pairs.
