View Full Version : Good sample for hourly rate?

Hey guys,
first post here... I just recently moved up to the .50-1 NL (100 buy in). Im trying to keep track of my stats to get a good idea of how my play is going. So far at my new limits, ive gotten about 42 hrs in and my stats looked really good until a 2 outer incident last night for $130. I know this is not enough hours to take my stats seriously...Anyone know what the rule of thumb is for getting a legit hourly rate?

25,000 hands should get you a good idea. If you are pretty new to online, then you will be learning as you go (and with hope, improving) which will skew your stats - so you may not really have number that is reliable until you have more hours. If I remember the confidence intervals for samples with a standard deviation of 16 big bets (about average for online play by those showing a profit), I think you need 400 hours of play (about 24000 hands) to be just 60% sure. Anybody want to confirm that number?
