I was clearly trying to steal, it back-fired, How bad of an attempt to steal was it, and then, how bad is that call? at the time is first looked like it wasn't a big enough raise to keep me out after what i had invested.

Anyway, still in it now 50 people left (36 pay) i ahve 20BB.Hopefully i can salvage this collapse. Any help or comments are appreciated. Thanks

I like the play in the first hand fine - the second hand is close but I like the call - looks like you need to work on your ability to suck out

Hand 2 it is possible to fold. Hand 1 not really. I don't mind the steal raise but when he comes over the Top if he's at all tight (AT+, KQ, 88+) or even if he's slightly less tight (A8+, KJ+, 66+) I think you don't have enough pot equity to call. I'd have to do the PokerStove math but you are risking 1750 to win 3150.... hm this one is closer than at first glance. I think it's opponent dependant as to whether you think he would resteal with air.

I don't think you're posting hand 1 if the river pairs the board (or for that matter, is anything but a queen).

Hand 2 is tricky. Part of me says call, as you're getting 1.8:1. But then again, part of me also says fold, because most SBs are only going to repop you with a range that probably has you at 2:1 or worse (AK-A8, KQ-KT, AA-66). Maybe that range is overly pessimistic, I don't have any reads.

Another consideration is your image. I think calling and folding are about neutral in terms of this. On one hand, if you call you're sending the message that someone has to put their entire stack at risk against you. On the other hand, you're showing down K9s, which might make people pop you back with something like KJ. Perhaps this tips the scales towards a call.

I guess if there's a decent chance he will make this play with two cards, call. I just don't see that enough in your typical 'stars $22, though, so I fold here.

Without looking at any responses, critique welcome...

Hand 1: Yes. Good call. I think worst case villian has QQ here. I thought he was gonna show Ah for the Royal.

Hand 2: Depending on your image, good steal. Call is marginal.

Rough approximations off the top of my head (on the fly live game situation):
About 1.8-1 pot odds or (65/35)
AA/KK: behind 4-1 (80/20)
AK: behind 7-3 (70/30)
QQ-99: behind 3-2 (65/35)
77/88: behind 5-4 (55/45)
My guesses as to villians range, it might be any pair, depending on your image. I think you're in trouble here.

I'm usually borderline weak-tight so take it with a grain of salt, but I lay down, keep my chips and tighten up a little, rather than show down K9 and blow whatever image I have and have to tighten up a lot.
