Last week, I asked if a 636 was a bad credit score for buying a car. Well, I was going to get a 2000 Ford Explorer for $9,000. After "reviewing" my credit, I was told that I could get a $6,000 loan with almost 19% interest. The other route I could go was to get a co-signer and "only" pay 14.5% interest. I said no thanks and walked away. So then my boss sold me his old 1994 Toyota Camry for $2,000. The best part is I don't have to pay him. He will automatically take out $75 per paycheck until it's paid off.

The only bad part is that it won't help your credit.

That's a good car for a pretty good price. If it's been kept in reasonable condition, you'll be able to get quite a few more years on that car. I've got about 160k on my 88 Toyota Corolla, and it still runs great. I think it's got 10 more years in it easy. Toyota does a great job of building cars that last.

from the looks of it the only thing that will help his credit is operation mayhem.

It has 135,000 miles on it. My boss owns a truck company so I know he took good care of it.

Yea I know. I don't have any credit cards though. I just got a secured mastercard about 2 weeks ago. It should help get me started.

Good deal. Those don't look to bad.

You will definitely be much better off without a huge car payment. I wish I could get rid of mine.

19%? Damn, what a bunch of ass-clowns. Good job turning that down for what seems like a reasonable deal on the Camry. Like the others said, get a gimpy $300 limit credit card and work your way up from there.

Hey, a '94 Toyota. No worries...it's just getting broken in. I have a '94 Toyota Pickup with 179k on it, and it's still running fine. Though, I don't think getting it sideways in the rain helps much...
