View Full Version : Suspected 2+2ers

Hey all,

I'm sure everyone else has a list like this too, people you think are 2+2ers, but aren't sure. People with names like "IPushany2" or whatever. Not asking anyone to share their screen names, just the ones that *by screen name* you suspect to be a 2+2er, but haven't confirmed.

ChuckNorris

DYSW seems to play a LOT. I would've thought that he isn't a 2+2'er, his playing style seems to be somewhat different from the standard push/fold play.. Less aggressive or something. I have a guy with sn roi29 next to me in a 30+3 table right now /images/graemlins/smile.gif

gildwulf
08-01-2005, 04:36 PM
The way I see it...if someone sees a 2+2 name and leaves the table because of it, there's a greater likelihood of a fish showing up. Also, if they decide to stay the person may give a sup bro to you or something so you can a) meet new people/have a decent conversation in what is inherently a lonely profession or b) steal his blinds like crazy.

Very curious. I have played with him more than once, his location is the same and he even responded to ilya's old screenname when I questioned an incredibly dubious play. When I mentioned my SN from here he said he had no idea what I was talking about.

The play I remember makes me think that he can't be a 2+2er. With two microstacks (both in the blinds and had double digit chips after posting), he limped, I pushed in the CO anfd both blinds folded. He called my push of 99 or TT with AJo and lost.

Its nice to see that my play is so erratic that my SN hasn't been mentioned.

jeebus,

also, "getting a handle on how someone plays" isn't exactly useful when the answer is "well." throw on top of this the fact that the vast vast vast majority of sng play is formulaic, and well, ...

the main reason that people i talk to don't like people knowing that they are a 2+2er is that they give up their blinds fairly easilly, so a player who knows this is going to steal their blinds constantly. also in other ways, people will start "playing differently" against you because they know who you are. this basically hurts your earn in almost all variations, so people hate it.

me, i hate all of you people, so i don't want to be getting "sup bro"ed at the table.

Uh, except that he has. He also recently posted a tourney report which, while not a true hand history, did include a fairly detailed account of many hands that he played. In addition he talked about what he was thinking during the hands and why he played them the way he did. Given the tone of that tourney report, I seriously doubt he cares who "gets a handle on how he plays".

Megabet,

This is just not correct. To top it off, I believe it has nothing to do with why Z never posts a hand history.

so you took his statement that it would be retarded to give everyone who ever asked for a hand history to be the same as that he would never post a single hand history. bad logical reasoning.

now, from that post i'm confused only by one little thing, does he mean he's playing poker to make money, or that he's making his website to make money? i assume the former, since the site doesn't have ads on it or anything...

I suppose the reason I dont mind people knowing "should" give up my blinds easily is because I sometimes make calls with trash like 33 when I know I have the best of it and when I know I have the best hand...for instance, I think cureains has tried to steal my blinds 4 times in the recent past. Two of the 4 times he got called and of those 2 times, he had trash and outdrew me. You would think that the observant players would figure this out and stop pushing into me with trash, and actually most of them have. You would be suprised how often I get walks on the bubble. It has let me not push as much as I used to...but that T8s still looks sooooooo tempting.

ya know, I dont really understand why people get all worried about other people knowing their names. I actually WANT people to know my names because I want the good people to stay away from me. I also dont mind them knowing that I am going to play the bubble very correctly. It is also nice to know that usually people arent going to try to pull too much bs on me because I will call them...I just honestly can not see any majob benefit of not letting people know your names. I MUST be overlooking some reason. Someone please let me know.

On Sunday in the 700k guaranteed MLG pushed his SB into ElmerFudd's BB, who thought and called with Q9o. This is with ~50 players left and a 180k first prize. MLG of course flipped over T3o and ElmerFudd held up. And ended up taking third.

I dunno about the rest of you but I won't be stealing ElmerFudd's blind anytime soon should I ever be at a table with him.

My theory, probably flawed:

1) If they know you're a 2+2er they will probably attack your blinds a bit more than otherwise.

2) More importantly, you will lose FE when pushing on the bubble since your opponents would probably loosen up their calling standards.

So to me, it seems like the worst of both worlds if your opponents know that you are a 2+2er.

Again, I might be wrong, and I certainly am not claiming that this applies at the levels that I play (due to the huge volume of players) but I would have thought that these would be considerations for players at the higher levels.

Is my reasoning flawed?

Im atetables, eatingtables. Usually I try to play pretty fast while 8 tabling, faster than my roommate chckraisesAA and chckfldsAA. Lately I have been helping my other one 3 and 4 table so maybe I've been slower, if I'm ever slowing down a table you are on just be like play faster brown trout, or something like that.
