After switching to SNGs I thought Party was taxing me double what I had to cough up to play ring games so I thought I would analyse it, then decided to posted it here as some of you may find it interesting (excludes rakeback).
Assumptions for $3/6:
70 hands/hour, 2BB/100, Rake 12c/hand
A $33 tournament takes the same time as 50 hands ring.
For 50 hands in $3/6 ring:
Profit= $6, Rake=$6. 50:50
For a $33 SNG:
24% ROI= $8, Rake=$3 73:27
These results surprised me as a naively thought the 5% rake vs 9% rake meant I would be paying a higher ratio of profit:rake. However this doesn't apply to higher limits; the results would be different as rake is capped at $3/hand whereas the high stakes SNGs fees keep rising.
I feel like playing SNGs much more than ring games now. /images/graemlins/smile.gif
