Fresh free range turkey

Thought I would try something new this year. Bought a fresh free range turkey grown by the Hutterites in Choteau, Mt. They butcher these a day before running them into town. Fresh and no chemicals. I wonder if it will taste different?

the hutterites were caught bringing in to the us banned chemicals for their fields to spray. i know their chickens are tough but dont know about the turkeys though. they dress like quakers but act like nuts. the kids run off to the city as soon as they can get away from the colonies over in eastern montana.

How "free" could the range truly have been if the turkey ended up dead on my plate next to pile of mashed potatoes?

Where can I find a free fresh free range turkey for free?

come to my house today. Free gravy, free potatoes and free pumpkin pie as well.

But aren't you supposed to hold on to Thanksgiving food for another month or so? You know, for a turkey sandwich here and soup bones there....

My experience with free-ranging fowl is that they are tastier but have tougher, drier meat. You have really got to do some serious basting and injecting during the cooking process.


We had a Mini Butterball this year. The white meat just melted in your mouth. Personally, I like chemically-enhanced food. I'm also fond of Arby's Roast Beef.
