Of all the famous dead people throughout history, who do you think would be the best at poker?

my choices:
1. Sigmund Freud - Bill and Ted may have thought of this first, but who would be able able to read opponents better than the father of modern psychiatry.
2. Richard Nixon - a very tricky opponent who could bluff with the best of 'em
3. Ghandi - solid, careful and would never go on tilt

1. Maybe. Everytime there were two Ks on the board he'd rant about you wanting to have sex with a man, and the you're only bluffing because you got a small penis and need to compensate.

2. This would be good until the hidden cards fall out of his sleeve and he gets kicked out of the casino. Reminds me of all the home game forum "I got cheated!" posts.

3. He'd give all his earnings to poor people. What's the point? And he can still go on tilt, peaceful people do all the time. Remember Jesus when the moneychangers were in the temple? I'd love to see him at Foxwoods. "Changing 100" and he turns into the incredible hulk flipping over tables....

funny you mention money changers. Just yesterday i mentioned poker being in the bible and said jesus flipped the tables after a beat all in preflop AA vs KK. I said jesus said 'what the fuk!?' flipped the table, gave them the finger, said peace be with you and walked out.

Whatever happened to Gandhi? He made one great film, and we haven't heard from him since.

From what I've heard (and I only know this b/c I'm a political junkie), Nixon was actually a pretty good poker player. He took a lot off other WW2 soldiors. That might just make him good by comparative standards, or maybe lucky over a relatively small sample of hands (10k or so). I don't want to suggest he was world class or anything. Plus, knowing him, he might well have cheated his ass off.

Doc Holliday was probably one of the best....one of the first to try to make a living out of it - when he wasn't shooting folks
