Empire 400NL full ring. Villain has $100, I have him covered. He is 22/1/1

I get A /images/graemlins/heart.gif K /images/graemlins/club.gif in MP

1 call, 1 fold, 1 call, Villain raises to $12. Looking at his stats and his stack, this has simply got to be a premium hand. I'm not sure why, but I decide to call. Anyone fold this preflop? 4 folds and the 2 limpers just call.

Flop (4 players) is 8 /images/graemlins/heart.gif Q /images/graemlins/heart.gif J /images/graemlins/heart.gif

2 checks. Villain bets $35. I put him on AA so I figure I have 12 outs. I raise to $90, which would put him all-in.

I think this play is correct... who likes it?

How do you put him on AA as opposed to KK or QQ or JJ? In any event, it's fine. He won't fold, but whatever. Builds image, doesn't cost much.

what's his screen name?

it would be a good play if you think that your A and K outs are good. i don't think that's very likely with a 1% PFR.

i think the play is pretty good, b/c even if he has AA, he has no heart and could drop it right there, and if not you have aleast 12 outs and only about a 10% dog (45% to hit), right?

I thought he'd raise more w/ QQ and possibly not even raise JJ. After limpers, a 3x BB raise from a very tight raiser just screams AA to me. I'm not saying it's right but that's how some of these silly buggars play.

With the money that's in the pot, is it not a good play to raise enough to put him all-in anyways? The risk is really the limpers, as I have to have the pot odds to do this. The reward is seemingly a +EV play if the limpers get out.

Not sure what I'd do if one of them pushed though... Guess I'd have to call?

it's a good play then. FWIW, i only have a few hands on him, but he was 44/16 that session.

heh, that's hilarious.

Odd how peoples' play changes. I didn't have a ton of hands... I think I had 200 or so but it might have been in the 100s.

Anyone fold this preflop?

[/ QUOTE ]

not being afraid to cold fold AK preflop has been has been one of my most profitble abandonments of machismo as i've moved up in stakes.

Just make sure you three bet it when the time is right, too.

Results:

I raised to $90 and both limpers folded. He, of course, called and showed AA.

The turn and river bricked and MHING.

That's okay cause I was still up a grand tonight /images/graemlins/smile.gif
