Basically someone who plays more than about 20% of their hands (including the blinds) in a full game and raises more than 10% of the time is considered to be Loose Aggressive (LAG).

There is more than one type, though, and you should be aware of what you're up against.

Some are aggressive preflop and on the flop and tone down later in the hand.

Some are aggressive the whole way through.

Some are only loose preflop and tighten up if the flop hasn't hit them hard, others could care less what the board looks like.

In general, when you see us talking about LAGs here, they will be semi-defined by the game and limit being discussed, and they have been pegged as LAGs for playing too many hands preflop and taking them too far later in the hand.

The most extreme form of LAG is called a Maniac.

Hope this helped.

With this definition almost the entire SS forum just became LAGs! /images/graemlins/wink.gif

I've honestly never before heard such a low starting point for calling someone a LAG. 25/15 is the very bottom of what I'd call LAGgy.

Raising under 10%... That's almost passive!

I accept your revisions.

I've been playing in some tighter games lately.

Incidentally, being a LAG isn't necessarily a bad thing. Some people can make a lot of money being a LAG but they have to play better than the table post-flop and they have to risk a lot more when they get premium hands because when you're raising a lot, you don't get as much respect.

That's certainly true for no limit. For limit however there is a ceiling to how many hands you can play (and raise!) preflop with any chance of recouping your losses against even the worst opponents.

LAGs will however run spectacularly good every now and then.
