Hi guy, Post your progress here.

I joined .25/.50 with 16.40 and left at around 32.65 profitting on that session as $16.25.

Moving up to .50/1 with my 15BB (Shall join with).

Just sat down after dinner myself. I took the $143 from 2-4 and pocketed $53 as profit for the exercise -- this is how I convince myself to keep going, cuz I've already made money from it. =)

Anyway a small pot followed by a 16BB flush and I'm up to $162.50. From $90-150 is only 10BB so that was a quick one. Time to move to 5-10, with another $12 to put into the profit jar.

My other tables atm are .25K, .5-1, and 1-2.

.25-.50 at UB, cuz table selection for .5-1 is so poor, and I have yet to trounce .5-1 there so I'm not moving up until I do.

.5-1 and 1-2 at Party; both limits since I just recently moved up to 1-2 and don't feel like playing all 1-2 yet. Mostly cuz it has also kicked my ass. I think I was actually negative at Party 1-2 until this morning.

Won a $119 pot at the 5-10. The single largest pot I have ever drug in my entire life. /images/graemlins/crazy.gif I think I'm playing a bit scared money, and I'm trying to fight it. But to me, that's the purpose of the challenge, so I don't mind busting out. (That plus I can rationalize continuing cuz I've already 'profited' from the venture.)

Up to $166 at 5-10. I guess the goal is $300 for 10-20. Dunno if I would drop down or go broke; probably drop down.

I think datamining is fine with party, as long as you're the one doing it. they seem to have a problem when other people do it for you (pokeredge)

Stars say they hate datamining with HUGE ONLINE DATABASES.
StarSpy email response(personal/private Data miner for stars) pretty much says they frown upon dataminers, But its not banned*yet* and they probably wont lock accounts for it.

They say they spoke to HQ or something about making software changes rendering datamining apps fairly useless/Not as good.

I've never heard of it being illegal. Maybe they don't like it, but I don't think there's anything in the T&C against it.

EDIT: I usually only mine before/after a session, when I'm home but not playing. To some degree this is my 'cover,' so I'm not really concerned with getting caught.

This works well with:

Luck+Standard 2+2 player + Cashing some profit as you go along = Profit even when busting out.

But i didnt bust fully, just dropped alot.

I think Mason said that the optimum br for fastest growth was 100bb, but it's impractical because if you ever have a losing session you have to move down. 15bb basically means if you lose a hand you have to move down /images/graemlins/tongue.gif

ok, i'm gona start this since i was too tired and having too much fun in omaha to bother with LL Hold 'em.

What are the rules? I play on party, so do I start with $15 at .5/1 (heh, i used to buyin for that much when i played that limit. should be easy /images/graemlins/tongue.gif). If i get like $33.25 do I take that all to the 1/2 table, or do i pocket the 3.25 as profit and start the table with $30?

you play .5/1 until you get to $30, pocket the difference and move up to 1/2. repeat until you lose to a backdoor flush.

uh yeah. Tons o luck. I played 8 hands at .5-1, 87 at 1-2, 8 hands of 2-4, 15 at 3-6, 131 at 5-10, and 23 at 10-20 before I stopped. Those three times I hit a big hand right off are what made it for me.

One moves through 7 (or 8) limits, making between 7.5 and 18 BB at each, for a total of 88 BB in the run. That's a damn good run no matter how you do it.

In the following 'table', columns are Big Bet, BB needed for next level, cash won at this level, and ending bankroll (in dollars).

I think the original OIC was 30BB, not 15. Also, taking 'excess' out when you change limits was something I did to help keep myself from wimping out. You can either do it hardcore (sit down at next table with the entire BR) or wimpy (take profits), I guess.

Keep at it, I never got past .50/1 either yesturday. Got down to .25/.50 again(Your not suppose to DROP BACK AT THIS).

My method is taking a bit of profit, because my BR is tiny and if i go Bankcrupt and had $40 i feel like a total idiot! (Thats 20% of my BR!!!)

Im at 6BB .25/.50 EEEEK.. $3 not good.

Yeah, my BR was about $630 before I started this yesterday, so I wasn't too bad. Look at how long I've been registered -- I've been playing 25c-50c for like two years. /images/graemlins/crazy.gif I play then quit for a while then start a new bankroll up again.

This is fun, but it's turned me into a giant sLAG (28/16/3.8 over 115 hands).

Ok, my final tally for my first try:

After 180 minutes of play, I'm up $5.34. Stats 26.90/15.20/3.04 over 171 hands. I made it to 1/2, but got sent back down after 42 hands.

I'm stopping this attempt as I recall reading that you were only supposed to run for 3 hours or until you got busted/bored. I tried to stick to the other "rules," too: I moved up limits when the blinds got to me and I had 15BB or more for the next limit, and I moved down when the blinds got to me and I was under 15BB for the previous limit.

I think it's 5 hours, which is about 300 hands, which is a damn good short amount of time in which to try to make 88 BB.

Move up in limits as soon as you have the buyin. Sticking around for a few extra hands is treating it like money. It isn't! It's just BB.

I think 15BB is good. You need a hot run of cards to climb up 88BB. A 50BB uptick -- already a good lucky streak -- only takes you to 5-10, and there's 22 more BB to gain from there. Trying to win 30 at each stage requires a lot more luck.
