To be fair I don't know most of the green people. But MMMMMM, Dinasty, Wacki and BruceZ look a little conservative to me.

Where is the liberal moderator?

I think he labels himself as conservative, but I could be wrong

Why should it matter? As long as moderation is consistent and they aren't targeting people for their leanings, rock on.

Nothing, as almost everything that is posted in 2+2

Hopefully, I haven't posted in a while but came accross a thread where they were targeting ACPlayer and Cyrus who I consider excellent posters.

Hi Sirio,

Your question may provide a good opportunity to review a couple of things touched before on this board.

Since you seem to be asking, I will summarize my personal political philosophy: it is very liberal in the original or classical sense of the word. In other words, I'm for legally allowing just about anything in our society with the exception of harming another or infringing upon another's rights.

I also don't quite understand how the popular meaning of "liberal" evolved from meaning "to allow", to encompassing "to control or manipulate for the greater good" (or something like that). I don't really understand how or why "liberal" ever came to be associated with socialism or things of that nature.

If you really look at it, socialist-type programs are *not* "liberal" (or "allowing"); they are controlling and somewhat forceful in their nature and application. People are *forced* to help others under the methods of socialism or socialistic programs. While voluntary charity is a fine thing indeed, my personal view is that people should not be *forced* to be charitable.

So, while I'm definitely not even close to being a Socialist, I'm actually very liberal. Laissez-Faire Style, thgat is. Do whatever you want, just don't hurt others. I also take exception to people trying to control others, especially through government. That, in my view, is essentially misguided, and can be in varying degrees immoral.

As for moderating, I will be trying to moderate based on principles of fairness and with a view to keeping this board running smoothly and in accordance the intent of the owners. Nobody need fear that I will be harsher on them than on others due to their political views.

In the near future this forum will have a Sticky which will summarize expectations of conduct for all participants. The owners of this site have set certain guidelines for posting, (which is within their rights), and we all should strive to follow those guidelines. Hopefully, posts deleted by moderator, and suspensions/bannings, will be rare occurrences on this forum.

Well all that might have been more than you were asking, but I feel that some openness on these matters is good.

As for your actual question, "Where are the liberal moderators"--you've got one right here. Classically speaking, of course;-)

Agreement. It's when people start getting targetted for their political views (and no, I'm NOT saying that is happening or has happened here) that we have a problem.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. You're just to the right of jello. /images/graemlins/smirk.gif

The political affiliation of the moderators is irrelevant. While I disagree with Dynasty's and MMMMMM's politics, they are fair people and I have no doubt they'll do a fine job. I happen to know Dynasty personally and he's a good man.

FWIW, I was asked to moderate a forum and declined. I doubt the political viewpoints of the moderators were a consideration in their selection.

Regardless of MMMMMM's political beliefs, I think he's an excellent moderator, and I certainly don't know him personally, nor have I had a whole lot of interaction with him either. But from what I've observed, he's been more than fair, alleviating my concerns about moderation here, despite my general disagreement with some of the moderation policy (as I understand it).

Flaatery will get you nowhere, Andy. If you don't watch it you'll soon be out in the woodshed along with John Cole and the rest of them.

I'd go anywhere with John Cole.

Thanks, Scoot, but I feel it necessary to point out that BruceZ stepped in at a difficult time and was only trying to enforce the rules.

I too will be enforcing the rules, and when the Terms and Conditions are back up, this forum will be stickied regarding expected conduct.

Violators of the Terms and Conditions will report to the woodshed each morning at 8:00 A.M. sharp and if you want to know what that means, just ask Cyrus.
