As many of you know I started a .25/.50 to $5/10 challenge at the beginning of the month. I had a fairly busy july so I was only able to play around 5,000 hands. However, thats been enough to secure my play to .50/$1.

Now, I wanted to get some feedback as to how much more difficult .5/$1 compared to .25/.50, I've played .5/1 for about 3,000 hands, before I took the break from poker to start all over again, and I remeber it not being much more difficult, is this the same...just wanted some thoughts.

IMO it's softer. Party's smallest limit is .5/1 so you get a lot of new players there. Sites with .25/.5 have lower limits where newbs can start out for real money. I personally started at .02/.04 and worked up from there. When I moved to Party and Co. I hit a hot run of cards, but the competition was softer than .25/.50 I had been playing at Stars.

I needed 10k hands on Paradise before I felt comfortable I had 0.25/0.50 beat. After which I proceeded directly to Poker Stars' 0.50/1 (mainly for the bonus). I can't believe the success I'm having -- I'm thinking I might declare it beat at 5k hands. WAY softer than Paradise.

I think the .50/1.00 at stars is looser than the .25/.50. That said, it kicked my ass for first 2k hands. I'm now a little better than break even. Biggest difference I've seen is there are very few pots unraised preflop and people will call down with anything.

Oh I do. Debating whether to keep milking 0.50/1 or move up sooner.
