88 early in a $10+1

I'm heyrhett. Someone is telling me that I should have bet $55 to $70 here rather than limped with the 88. Obviously, I was trying to limp to see the flop cheap. 88 may be the best hand on board. Any thoughts? I think limping is the best play.
