Here's a rundown of my B&M session today.

I sit down 8/16 Bay101 with 400 behind.

3rd hand in:

I hold J/images/graemlins/heart.gif J/images/graemlins/spade.gif in MP1

limp, limp, I raise, cold call, cold call, two limpers call.

Flop comes

5/images/graemlins/diamond.gif 8/images/graemlins/diamond.gif 4/images/graemlins/diamond.gif

check, check, I bet, fold, button calls, fold, fold

turn comes 2/images/graemlins/diamond.gif

I bet, he thinks for a while and raises, I fold after thinking for a while.

He shows 23o no diamond and takes down a reasonably sized pot. I laugh and said, "you had me." Labeled him maniac. FOr the next few hands, he proceeded to raise with any two.

A few hands later, same orbit, i hold A/images/graemlins/heart.gif 4/images/graemlins/club.gif in the BB.

Preflop
folded to maniac who raises, folded to me and I call.

Flop comes J/images/graemlins/heart.gif T/images/graemlins/club.gif 8/images/graemlins/diamond.gif

I check he bets I call

Turn: Q/images/graemlins/diamond.gif

I check he bets I fold

A few orbits.

Q/images/graemlins/spade.gif T/images/graemlins/club.gif in MP2

3 limpers, I call, 2 callers, maniac in BB raises, all call

Flop comes 5/images/graemlins/spade.gif 2/images/graemlins/spade.gif 6/images/graemlins/spade.gif

Maniac bets, all fold to me, I call

Turn: 9/images/graemlins/heart.gif

Maniac bets, I call, guy behind folds

River: 4/images/graemlins/heart.gif

Maniac bets, I call for a read

That's all for now. I 'll post a few other hands later.

On the second hand I would check/fold flop.

On the third hand I would fold the QTo in MP2 even after the 3 limpers. And I wouldn't call the river just to "get a read" on a maniac. There is no way to read a maniac. That is their only real strength afterall.

But this is just what I would do.

Maybe someone can set me straight.

First hand:
I play same way, not much you can do without a solid read.

Second Hand:
Even against a maniac I do not call the PreF raise. Im sure their are better spots to attack a maniac then on a hand were you are either slightly ahead or fairly far behind.

Third hand:
I agree with AC that this is an easy fold after 3 limpers for me. It could be that i generally hate Q10o but if im gonna play it I want it against fewer opponents to maximize its limited high card strength.
If it was suited I'd be willing to play because the flush possibilities add good value multiway. Off-suit the straight draw is thier but unlikely and the risk of domination is too great.
As for the calldown "to see what he has" for future reads, i think is very suspect. It is a large pot but I really don't think there is enough chance of a bluff or enouhg additional knowledge to be gained (we know he is a maniac) to make it worth it. Seems amateurish and sounds like a slight case of tilt being justified.

Just my thoughts, If anyone disagrees please explain.

yes, i also get the impression that the maniacs have you slightly tilted.

You're actually quite right. It was a terrible call, but I wanted to make sure he didn't think he could push me out of a pot just by betting every time.

On another note, he did bet to the river wiht 9 high later in the night.
