Tommy A in the DS "Telling Statistic" thread asked:

But if I played online, the stat I would want to know, first, is the hourly expense.

So, just what is the hourly rake per player per table at some of the microlimits? Now you got me curious!

I posted some of my hourly expenses in the thread courtesy of PokerStat, but it was buried pretty deep. This post includes statistics for every level I've played--which is every level PP offers, plus 5 max tables.

Limit Hours Rake Rake/Hr
.5/1 29 39 1.3
1/2 73 208 1.4
2/4 175 713 1.0
3/6 169 1207 1.2
5/10 175 2409 1.4
8/16 46 739 1.0
10/20 9 173 1.0
15/30 6 122 0.7
20/40 52 1038 0.5

5-max tables
1/2 40 315 3.9
3/6 38 676 3.0
5/10 3 120 4.0

(Note: I made a mistake on my first analysis by incorrectly stating that 20/40 cost a BB an hour when it's only half that. Also, I don't really have enough hours at 10/20, 15/30 to draw conclusions)

Conclusion 1: Obviously you're paying around a BB/hr or more no matter what level you play. 15/30 starts to make a difference and 20/40 is where the cap on rake really makes a difference and cuts your BB cost in half.

Conclusion 2: No wonder I get killed at the 5-max tables! I love to play s/h games, but what a waste of money.

Conclusion 3: Rake is one of my biggest personal expenses!

p.s. How do I format a table so all my numbers line up?

Very interesting...another reason I'm glad I bought pokertracker.
