You think you're good at poker?

I think you're not. I want you to prove it.

After a horrible month at 15/30, then moving down to 5/10, then 3/6, then 2/4, then $100 NL, then MTTs, then $20SNGs, the funk continues. So I want the micro posters to help cheer me up by proving it's possible to win at poker.

RULES

1) The challenge will last 30 days.
2) You may play either 0.25/0.5, 0.5/1, or 1/2, where ever you can win the most money.
3) You must post your PokerTracker stats for the month.
4) You may play as many hands as you want, as long as the number (over 30 days) exceeds 5000 (preferably 10000).
5) You may on any site.
6) Whoever has the best winrate from July 30th to August 29th wins.

I will pay the winner $25. If this isn't enough, I'll pay the winner $50. I just want you all playing more.

Good luck! I'm down a ton of money so far this month in .5/1 Hopefully it will be differnet for you.

Just an update.

I HAD A WINNING SESSION! 2.66BB/100 over 750 hands at .5/1 just now. I hope it's sustainable.

This sounds like some good fun. I'm a newb, been playing for 5 months and am building a bankroll from site to site on bonus's.

Most of the time I play at Interpoker and have moved back down to .25/.50 10 handed and play 4-6 tables. Been trying to get my stats up so I can plug my leaks at this lower level before moving back up again.

So far I've been teetering at 4k hands between 1-4 BB/100, which is pathetic to decent but then again I'm new!

Keep me updated, I'm here to improve and I would love a chance to bask in some of the knowledge you guys could offer if I were to post my stats.

If you're trying to plug leaks I'd rather play a level higher and cut down to 2 or 3 tables.

Really? That's an interresting take. Considering I'm a completely new player and have about $500 in my bankroll now, I've given alot of thought to slowing down and possibly moving up.

A few friends of mine that have gone along a similar path have advised me to play as many hands as possible in a limit I believe I can beat conistantly so that I am able to identify when I am having trouble in general.

Considering I only have about 4k logged hands under my belt (and another 5k or so unlogged and from live play) do you think moving up and playing less tables would be the right course of action?

My thought process is, the more hands I play and the more hands I see - the better I will be able to step back and look at what I'm doing wrong at a discount.

I agree. At those levels it's too easy to go into drone mode with that many tables open. Maybe you can fully concentrate on 6 tables at a time. I know I can't and make mistakes. When I'm trying to improve at a certain level I play 1 or 2 tables for quite a while. Once I feel comfortable I move up to multitable for the profit.

I'm in. One question: if we play more than one level during the period, are we just taking the one best level with the appropriate number of hands, or are we combining? (I bounce around a fair amount, depending on where I'm finding the best tables on any given day.)

6max is probably the most ridiculously variant form of poker. I think over one series of 8K hands at 5/10 6max I ran 9BB/100.

I have been doing much better since then.

Maybe the players at Stars are somewhat worse, but ridiculous bonus + ridiculous rakeback at Absolute easily pushes my hourly earn over the top of Stars. I haven't had too much trouble finding bad players at Absolute 6 max.

Hmm, I don't think I'm so good at poker that I can really beat anyone, but I can give this a go at my new limit.

My BB/100 for .5/1 from 6/18 to 7/18 was 3.74. Is that good? It was 8800 hands.

For the past 12 days and 3k hands I've been playing 1/2 I've been doing 6.04BB/100, so I'm probably at a disadvantage as that obviously has to come down.

I'll be playing 1/2 for this.

Got to 61, but decided to play til the blinds... then fell to 50 and stayed there for like 3-4 orbits. Just passed 60 again, so I'm up to 2-4.

What's the crossover for moving to 3-6? 15BB, so I guess $90?

I only had $ on Stars as far as sites with .25/50 and didn't feel like depositing to a different one. They are all pretty interchangable I'd say. I've played paradise, UB, absolute and stars.

Or do you move up once you hit 15BB for your current limit? its for the next Limit right? so win 30BB at each stake your ON.

Or do you move up once you hit 15BB for your current limit? its for the next Limit right? so win 30BB at each stake your ON.

I'm moving up with 15BB for the next limit (ie. I just hit $30 so I'm going to 1/2) Single tabling makes for good reads though . . .

Ah yeh i see, So in theory if you go bankcrupt (at this challenge not whole BR lol). You lose your original starting money?

Im at $15 profit at .25/.50 (joined with 16.40 up to $30.40) so nearly $15.

I could move to .50/1 so i might, just thinking it may screw up my PT stats on players? As they will count some at .50/1 wont it? Or can i make PokerACe only read .25/.50 stakes?

You can make PokerAce only display stats from hands played at the current limit. It's in preferences.
