Three way table, blinds 100-200.

Player A : Chip leader, about 4300
Player B (small blind) 2nd in chips, roughly 2900
Player C (yours truly, BB) 3rd, about 2100

A calls the blind, B folds in the small, and I check with Kc-2c.

Flop: Kh, 7s, Ks

He bets out the minimum 200, I ponder for a moment and reraise to 500. He calls.

At this point I know he's on the draw, hoping to catch. During the course of play throughout the night he had chased a lot of draws on the cheap and had also folded to a lot of big raises.

Player A count: 3600
My count: 1400

Turn: 6d

A checks, I go all-in for my last 1400. Without blinking, he calls, and catches the 5s to fill his hand.

My question is this: In light of putting all my chips into the pot with one card left, should I have checked down to see the river, thus assuring me that if he caught I could back out and retain what I had left, or did I take the right course of action in pushing for the pot.

There is a rule saying: Never give free cards to a draw.

You were right to push it in with the best hand.

He has to call 1400 on a 2900 pot, giving him 2:1. Chance that he catches is about 3:1. Loose call of him on that note, but he catches. It happens.

I never check to make sure something ugly doesn't fall, i charge others for trying to hit something ugly.

Just my 2 cents worth.
