Should I have re-raised him preflop or was my call ok?

Re-raising ppl with AK early in a STT with deep stacks is ridiculous IMO. IF he has JJ/QQ he could very easily push over the top and then you are put in a tough spot.

The only times I really like re-raising with AK is if you are in late position and there is a raise and several callers in front of you. I think pushing in this situation where the pot is like ~20% of your stack is worth the risk/reward since a lot of times ppl just fold it back to you and you scoop up a big pot uncontested.

Sometimes you gottta play post flop poker.

It pretty much depends on your position, with a structure like party its sometimes better to just plain call the bet in lvl unless its like a 1/8 of your stack folding could even by a proper play since AK isnt a made hand. Usually with a deeperstack and later posistion i might raise here if there was a limper before the initial raiser to get heads up.
