View Full Version : I just got caught

Today was my last day of summer school. I came home and told my mom that I wanted to move out a day early (ie today). She said that I can't. I have to clean my room, pick up my new phone, and her and my dad need to have a "chat" with me before I leave.

A chat?

"What's the chat about, Mom?"
"I found your POT!"
"What?"
"You heard me, pot."

She claims that she found a bag of weed in my laundry. I am not the sort of person that would leave a bag of weed in my laundry. So there is a chance that she was bluffing but I folded anyway and fessed up.

She said, "I am dissapointed in you, but I am not angry. You have a very important decision to make; whether or not you want to be a drug user."

This was great, I am glad they are not going to try to tell me what to do, cause I'd do what I want anyway. It almost feels good that they now know I smoke pot. So I don't have to hide it anymore. We'll see what they say tomorrow during our "talk."

Your parents are going to give you a drug talk about pot when you're 20 something?

When my mom found some weed I had, she confronted me about it. However, she had no idea I found her weed about two months before and smoked a few bowls of it with a friend. During the confrontation, I retorted: "ok, are you smoking weed?"

She had this surprised and innocent look on her face and told me no. I then proceeded to her room and presented her stash and pipe. She didnt know what to say after this really.

I only know a few people whose parents would flip out if they found out if their college aged kid smoked pot. Most of them are douches. The good parents don't overeact, and let you make your own decisions. They of course want you to stop, but they also realize that being so strict is most likely counterproductive.

I actually did this once in high school (I was a senior) mom walked in the door right as I was rolling one. I was emboldened 'cause a buddy of mine was right there at the time; she grabbed the bag and I said, "give me that back, it's mine". Surprisingly enough, she did. My friend went home and I went downstairs to talk it over with mom and dad.

The moral of the story is: my parents don't smoke and never truly condoned it while I lived in their house, but by being honest and straight-forward with them, they gave me the latitude to make some mistakes. Their only true concern was the legal aspect, I made sure of this by simply being a responsible kid.

Get pretty good grades, work a job to at least pay some of your way (or keep killing those SNGs), get into a school you want to go to and then live your life. It'll all work itself out, Augie.

P.S. I haven't smoked in years but I used to alot.

Augie, I'm glad you joined us for this Family Communication Sessoin.

I'm a little bit concerned because, as you know, I found some pot in your laundry. Now I'm not "coming down on you," I mean, that's not what I'm about ok? I'm just concerned that it could lead to other things.

Well, I know you don't want to hear this from me. So I came up with the idea to hire a motivational speaker to come and give you some direction. His name is Matt Foley, and he's been downstairs drinking Red Bull and vodka for the last four hours, so he should be ready to go. Now, he's used to big groups, so make him feel like there's a crowd here. His speech is called "Go for it!"

Ok Matt, we're ready for you!

Thanks Mom!

Well, how is everybody today? Good? Good!

As your mom probably already told you, Augie, my name is Matt Foley, and I am a motivational speaker.

Let me start out by giving you the 4-1-1 on what MY life is all about. First off, I am 35 years old, THRICE divorced, and I live IN A VAN DOWN BY THE RIVER!

Now Augie, you're probably saying to yourself right now: "I'm gonna go out there and grab the world by the tail and wrap it up and stick it in my pocket!" Well I'm here to tell you that as you go out there, you'll probably find out that you'll never amount to JACK SQUAT! You'll be eating government cheesy potatoes and LIVING IN A VAN DOWN BY THE RIVER!

You know, son, I saw that picture of you holding all that money. WEEEEELLLLLLLL LA-DEE-FRICKIN-DA! Looks like we got ourselves a bigshot poker player, don't we mom? Hey mom, I can't see real good, is that Texas Dolly Brunson over there?

Yo augie, I remember when my mother found my bong back in HS. Homemade gem of a gatorade bottle. Shitty times that talk. I know you are years away from even considering quitting, but dude, drugs are bad, um-kay?

Of course if I could go back and talk some sense into 18-year old CSC, it wouldn't work at all. So... quitting smoking now greatly increases poker profits tomorrow.

Your parents sound cool, kinda like mine were when I was in hs/college. At least they're being level-headed.

I was also 19 when my dad found a bag in my coat. He told my mom and they pulled me into the living room right away for a little meeting that lasted all of about 5 minutes.

My mom just cried a little and didn't say anything. My dad told my mom that it was not that big of a deal and not worth crying over. Then he gave me the disappointment speech. Next he told me that I was old enough to make my own decisions but I was not allowed to have drugs in their home. Then he actually handed me the bag and said that he knew I would do the right thing.

I left about 10 minutes later and spent the rest of the day smoking that bag with my friend Nate.

[/ QUOTE ]

Yes, these are very, very sucky parents. You are prolly better off without them in the long run.

Keep in mind that your parents have paid your way for most of your life and are choosing a very bad time to cut you off. What do they think is going to happen 10-15 years down the road when they need some support from their children? What happens when one of them dies and the other can't live by themselves so they want to move in with you and your future wife?

Sometimes parents do things that are very shortsighted and this is definitly one of those cases. Don't sweat it, KEEP GOING TO SCHOOL (take loans if you need to) and feel free to forgive them but never forget that they did this - you (and they!) will be surprised at how handy this memory will be in the next 10-20 years.

BTW - If you are a general screwup and are simply milking your parents as a way to fund your drug/booze/lazy ass lifestyle (i.e. going to college just so you don't have to get a job and start life) - forget what I said. And also - you deserve whatever they do to you.

[/ QUOTE ]

Heheh... gl with the talk.

Don't let them convince you to stop smoking before TS, though. =)

And btw, the phrase "drug user" is so unnecessarily dramatic. Caffeine is a drug, alcohol is a drug, acetaminophen is a drug.....etc. Our society uses drugs to achieve a lot of desired effects; the fact that cigarettes and alcohol are killing millions of people per year while marijuana is illegal is just happenstance.

Because i cough up so much crap all the time cause i smoke weed. I thought this was funny because she was like " why are you're lungs so bad, you don't smoke do you? ", when she has caught me actually smoking probably over 20 times, and has found weed/bowls/bongs/etc. just as many times that she has caught me smoking.
