Here are some preflop situations I faced in the $109 rebuy yesterday. I'm interested to know which ones you would have gone for, and why. I will post my decisions and the results later.

1) Late in the tournament, I believe there are 3 tables left(it pays 1 spot) and I'm the chip leader. elfleader has been stealing a lot of blinds preflop from all positions.

Seat 1: jammer84 (6093 in chips)
Seat 2: elleon (6710 in chips)
Seat 3: elfleader (18720 in chips)
Seat 4: JJlatenite (6140 in chips)

2) I have seen skawty88 raise in position to 2400 and fold to an allin reraise of 4200 more. I have also seen him raise to 3600 and fold to a reraise allin of 8300 more. Knickadam I know to be a rational player.

3) spragari has been the most active player at our table, stealing blinds and pots regularly. He hasn't been seeing showdowns though.

4) This is the very next hand after the 77. I will tell you that in hand two (spolier), skawty showed down A9o.

Seat 2: F Bones 23 (9495 in chips)

I find this to be an interesting series of hands because it involves certain players more than once. It also makes for a nice set because the hands are pretty much discussable in their entirety... at least the way I played them, the choices were allin or fold preflop.

Cheers,
ack

1. I make it 5500 and fold to a push.

2. Suck it up and gamble.

3. Call and play a flop with position.

4. Insta-Call.

5. I'd want more info about the players here before I'd want to get involved with AQ here. I fold.

6. It sucks that he has you covered, but you can't have everything. Push.

I agree completely, except for hand 1. I think I'll gamble less than half the time with AK, maybe 30-35%.

do yo mean the second hand? the first was the AQ reraise.
If so, what ranges do you put the two guys on to fold AK here?

Yes I meant hand 2, and taking a closer look at the stack sizes, I think a call is pretty reasonable. But you're gambling.

The 2nd allin's range has to be pretty strong there....I doubt you'll be looking at AJ or AQ too often.

Results and thoughts:

1)
ackbleh: raises 3600 to 5400
BENSON: folds
TheBeat: folds
simmsux: folds
jammer84: folds
elfleader: raises 13270 to 18670 and is all-in
ackbleh: calls 13270
Seat 3: elfleader showed [Qc As] and won (19320) with high card Ace
Seat 5: ackbleh showed [Ac Qh] and won (19320) with high card Ace

I obviously agree with the reraise, but I'd seen elfleader post a few times in forums and he/she seemed like a good player. I figured he'd recognize I was playing back vs strength, and I had no problem making this call with 5400 already invested.

2)
ackbleh: folds
*** RIVER *** [Jc 5s 3d 3h] [As]
Skawty88: shows [9s Ad] (two pair, Aces and Threes)
knickadam55: shows [Qs Qd] (two pair, Queens and Threes)

I definitely thought about calling this one. I will add on an additional reply discussing this hand in more detail as I think it's the decision in this thread that merits the most debate.

3)
ackbleh: raises 39614 to 43214 and is all-in
Skawty88: folds
northerngent: folds
sprägäri: folds
ackbleh collected 9525 from pot

I don't like calling to see a flop with 77. It would be tough to know where I'm at, whereas my opponent would very likely know exactly where he's at. Deeper stacks, maybe... but with a 9000 pot prior to the flop and my opponnet sitting on 24,000 chips, acting first, and having exhibited prior aggression... I'm likely to face a flop bet here and at least one, perhaps two or three overcards. And I'm likely to face a bet where I'm going to be put to my chips anyways. No thanks. I'll take my chances with the aggression. It got me this far...

4)
northerngent: folds
sprägäri: folds
ackbleh: calls 15026
*** RIVER *** [Qd Ad Kh 9h] [5d]
ackbleh: shows [Js Jd] (a pair of Jacks)
Skawty88: shows [Qs Ac] (two pair, Aces and Queens)

Not even a significant decision. Coin tosses happen, let's move on.

5)
ackbleh: folds
elleon: calls 9998 and is all-in
*** RIVER *** [5h 9s Td 4h] [6h]
elleon: shows [Ac Js] (high card Ace)
Lefort: shows [7d 7s] (a pair of Sevens)

Would have been the best hand, would have lost. I still think the AQ is a clear muck here, especially if I threw away that AK earlier when I have a bigger stack and one known loose opponent.

6)
ackbleh: raises 24913 to 32913 and is all-in
Lefort: calls 24913
*** RIVER *** [2d Qc Ad 6c] [Kc]
Lefort: shows [Ac Qs] (two pair, Aces and Queens)
ackbleh: shows [Tc Th] (a pair of Tens)
Lefort collected 69526 from pot

Another correct play and coin toss failure pair vs AQ. Such is life. I think this is a clear play here too... just unfortuante to have lost the coin tosses I got into.

On an overall note, I think it's clear from these hands how much I value getting my chips in with aggressive action.
